Safety instructions

The following fundamental safety precautions have to be taken when
the soldering iron is being used in order to prevent electric shocks
and any danger of injury or fire.
-
The mains voltage must match the voltage shown on the rating plate.
-
Use the soldering iron only in a well ventilated location.
-
When the soldering iron is being used the whole front area becomes
very hot. To avoid burns please only ever take hold of it by the hand
grip.
-
Don't put the soldering iron down on any inflammable surface.
Use the stand provided instead.
-
Don't work with the soldering iron in any area in which there is any risk
of an explosion or where there are any inflammable liquids, gases,
or dusts.
-
Before starting any maintenance or cleaning work, always pull the plug
out of the socket and allow the soldering iron to cool down.
-
The connecting lead to the soldering iron cannot be replaced.
If it is damaged the soldering iron will have to be scrapped.
-
When the soldering iron is not in use, keep it out of the reach of
children and don't allow anyone else to use it who is not familiar
with such tools or who has not read and completely understood
these instructions.
-
This device has not been designed to be used by people (including
children) who have restricted physical, sensory or mental abilities or
a lack of experience and/or knowledge, unless they are supervised by
a person responsible for their safety or have received instructions from
that person as to how the device is to be used. Children should be
supervised to ensure they do not play with the device.
Use
1. Before you start any soldering work the tip of the soldering iron has to
be "tinned". The tip has to be dipped in soldering grease (1) and then
tinned by melting soldering wire (2) onto it.
2. If your soldering work is taking a long time the tip of the soldering iron
will have to be cleaned with a damp sponge from time to time and then
tinned again.
3. When the tip of the soldering iron has been tinned and the necessary
soldering temperature has been reached you can start your soldering
work. Place the tip on the work-piece to bring the metal up to working
temperature ready for joining.
