5. Using the CSATA2EXi Controller Card
The CSATA2EXi Controller Card has 2 eSATA connections. These eSATA connections can be
used to connect eSATA enclosures, like the Conceptronic CHD3UES.
The CSATA2EXi has "Hot-Plug" support, which means that you can connect external eSATA
disks directly to the CSATA2EXi without restarting your computer. The disks will be directly
functional.
Note: When you connect a new eSATA disk to the CSATA2EXi Controller card, it is possible
that the hard disk is not shown in "My Computer". In that situation, there is no
partition created on the hard disk. See Chapter 7 for instructions how to format your
new hard disk.
6. J-Micron RAID Configurer
During the installation of the drivers, the J-Micron RAID Configurer is also installed on your
computer. With this software, you can create a software based RAID configuration of 2
connected eSATA hard disks.
Note: To create a RAID configuration, you need 2 eSATA hard disks.
Note: If you want to use your eSATA hard disks independently, of when you only have 1
eSATA hard disk, you do not need to use this software. You can skip this chapter.
Note: It is also possible to create a RAID configuration through the BIOS of the CSATA2EXi,
which will be shown on your screen during boot, but it is advised to use the J-Micron
RAID Configurer software instead of the BIOS function.
