4. Fitting the insulation
NOTE: Up to three people will be needed to install the insulation depending on the size of the
cylinder. The expansion behaviour of the insulation surface changes in the event of low room and/
or ambient temperatures.
For PVC surfaces: Installation can only be take place when the insulation has reached the
recommended temperature of approx. 20 °C. The recommended temperature is 10 °C for
polystyrene surfaces. If these temperatures are not reached, installation will only be possible with
great diffi culty or not at all (S).
Do not use pliers, tension belts etc.!
Do not expose the insulation to fi re or naked fl ames, as it is fl ammable. Maintain minimum
distances from heat sources.
4.1.1 Product description variant 1:
Thermal insulation made from 80 or 100 mm PUR soft foam with PVC foil lamination, zip fastener,
extruded lid for DUO-FWS and FWP and set of escutcheons for KPS, DUO-FWS and FWP.
Sections are available for all connections in the insulation with the exception of R ¾ leading
connections for mains water in the upper fl oor (KPS) and the solar coiled pipe (DUO-FWS). There
are perforations in the soft foam insert and the extruded lid for the sections for cold and hot water
and for the circulation for KPS. In the DUO-FWS the sections of the solar coiled pipe are perforated
in the casing (R).
4.1.2 Installation specifi cation variant 1:
1. Set up the cylinders in accordance with the installation instruction and the applicable technical
rules.
2. If necessary, the perforated sections should be cut out with a suitable knife before the lining is
laid (R).
3. Place the insulation on the sections and lay evenly around the cylinder (S). Starting at the
centre of the insulation, stroke and tap it with fl at hands evenly in both directions to achieve a
good fi t around the surface of the cylinder without air bubbles (T).
4. Slowly close the zip fastener by pressing the foam material surfaces together.
5. Should the connections for KPS for cold and hot water and for circulation be fed vertically
through the soft foam insert and the plastic lid, the perforated sections should be cut out with a
suitable knife. Should the connections for hot and cold water and circulation be fed sideways
through the insulation, the sections there should be marked accordingly and cut out with a
suitable knife.
6. With the KPS pre-assemble the tank connections for hot and cold water and the circulation, if
required.
7. Lay the top foam washer according to the position of the section and fi t extruded lid (Y). Close
the section of the magnesium anode of the KPS with the enclosed soft foam stop (Z).
8. Affi x and stick escutcheons.
9. Continue to assemble the tank in accordance with the installation guide and the applicable
technical rules.
4.2.1 Product description variant 2 (only for DUO-FWS and FWP):
Thermal insulation made from 120 mm PUR soft foam or 100 mm polyester woven fabric, both
designs with polystyrene cladding, hook terminal with cover strip and extruded lid. For the 120 mm
PUR soft foam insulation, up to two thermometers (accessories) can be installed over the upper
connections in each supporting level. Both hook terminals are cut out for this and the cover strip
provided with two thermometer sections. If no or only one thermometer is used, the enclosed
