Using an Extension Cable
If an extension cable is required, use an approved 3–core
extension cable suitable for the power input of this tool (see
Technical Data).The minimum conductor size is 1.5 mm
maximum length is 30 m.
When using a cable reel, always unwind the cable completely.

Anti-Stalling Control
DW248
The anti-stalling feature is designed to help you control the drill

; the
during a stall and keep it from pulling out of your hands. This
may occur when drilling in steel or using large diameter drills
in wood.
In case of a stall, the motor will be switched on and off at
regular intervals.
There are three alert signals:
-
check level: the stalling indicator will flash once
each time you depress the switch
function properly.

Engaged level: if a stall condition still exists, the
electronics will stop the tool and the indicator will
light permanently.

electronics do not function properly. Take your tool to

ASSEMBLY AND ADJUSTMENTS
WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personal
injury, turn tool off and disconnect tool from power
source before making any adjustments or removing/
installing attachments or accessories. Be sure the
trigger switch is in the OFF position. An accidental start-up
can cause injury.
Inserting and Removing a Bit (Fig. A, B)
1. Open the chuck by turning the sleeve counterclockwise and
insert the bit shank.
2. Tighten firmly by turning the sleeve clockwise.
3. To remove the bit, proceed in reverse order.
Spindle Lock

Depress the spindle lock button to lock the chuck while
inserting or removing a bit.
WARNING: Never depress the spindle lock button
during operation.
Forward/reverse Slider (Fig. C)

To select forward or reverse rotation, use the forward/
reverse-switch
WARNING: Always wait until the motor has come to
a complete standstill before changing the direction
of rotation.
