Overload Relay
Instructions
WARNING:
HAZARDOUS VOLTAGE
CAN CAUSE ELECTRICAL SHOCK
AND BURNS.
DISCONNECT POWER BEFORE PROCEEDING
WITH ANY WORK ON THIS EQUIPMENT.
The 3UA7 overload relay consists of a basic unit fitted with supplementary
modules. The modular system permits the user to uprate the basic version or
to modify it, e.g. from a contactor-mounting to a single-mounting unit. The
modules are snapped onto the basic unit.

Mounting onto contactors:
Individual mounting:
Permissible installed positions:
Keep distance to earthed parts (≥ 6 mm).
Do not subject to sudden shocks or long-term vibrations.
With ambient temperatures above 25 °C, in-row mounting and simultaneous
loading of several relays: reduce the upper setting value I
or keep a centre-to-centre spacing of 5 mm between the units.

Commissioning
Instructions:
Basic unit:
➀ Set setting lever to rated load current.
➁ Stop/reset button (red):
Press this button before putting relay into operation and after tripping.
Off function: During operation the NC contact can be opened manually
by pressing the stop/reset button. The relay itself remains ready for
operation.

Operating conditions at ambient temperatures > 55 °C
At ambient temperatures > 55 °C, you must
1. Reduce the current loading for the overload relay
2. Upwardly correct the setting current to prevent tripping at motor rated
current.

Calculation example:
Motor rated current: 10 A
Ambient temperature: 70 °C
Overload relay fitted: 8...12.5 A
1st Step: Determine the permissible current loading:
Max. current loading: 12.5 A x 0.82 = 10.25 A
Loading with motor rated current 10 A at 70 °C ambient temperature is
permissible.
2st Step: Calculate the setting current:
Motor rated current: 10 A
Setting current correction: 10 A x 1.1 = 11 A
You must set the overload relay to 11 A.
