Introduction
Turn On Power of the Spectrometry System
This button switches on the complete spectrometry system including the high-
voltage generator.
After switching on the system, all four illuminated status displays will flash at first
until the system control has finished the initialization of the spectrometry system.
The green illuminated display will remain active even after the initialization has
been finished. The system can then be activated for 'Measurement Stand-by
Mode' by the key switch.
Turn Off Power of the Spectrometry System
This button switches off the complete spectrometry system including the high-
voltage generator.
NOTE
Do not switch off the S4 spectrometry system when the high-voltage generator is active because this
may reduce the life of the X-ray tube and the high-voltage generator respectively.
The high-voltage generation is switched off automatically when the sample is removed. Also it can be
switched off using the control software.
Turning the key switch to the right:
'Measurement Stand-by Mode ON'
Keep turning the key in the right switch position (READY), until the orange status display begins to
flash. The spectrometry system is now in measurement stand-by mode, i.e. samples may now be
transferred inside and be analyzed.
The measurement stand-by mode is not started, if a system alarm is active (see section 'Illuminated
status displays').
