1. APPLICATION

NIPPON GASES "Universal CS-300" (*) shank can be used for WELDING, OXY-CUTTING & HEATING
PT
when connected to suitable accessories such as welding, cutting or heating attachments. This
shank has been designed for different fuel gases : acetylene, propane or natural gas.

(*) The term "universal" refers to use for any kind of welding, oxy-cutting or heating application but
it does not mean that it is suitable for any accessory of other trademarks.

2. CONNECTING THE TORCH

2.1. Inlet connectors. According to ISO 3235 standard. For oxygen : R1/4" with marking on the
OXY connector; for fuel gas : R3/8" LH with marking on the GAS connector. Tightness is
metal-metal; tighten with wrench.
2.2. Connect the hose & check gas tightness :
− Oxygen (blue hose) – 1/4" RH Nut.
− Acetylene (red hose) – 3/8" LH Nut.
− Propane (orange hose) – 3/8" LH Nut
2.3. Connection of accessories is made through O-ring & tightening nut. Use wrench.

3. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Before connecting the torch & during the whole operation, take care to follow these
instructions. In case of doubt, get in touch with NIPPON GASES.
3.1. Only use genuine & appropriate accessories from NIPPON GASES (cutting nozzles &
spare parts).
3.2. NEVER USE OIL OR GREASE with any component of the equipment.
OXYGEN WITH OIL AND GREASE : DANGER OF EXPLOSION.
3.3. Do not set pressures that are really different from those recommended.
WRONG PRESSURES = DIFFICULT FLAME CONTROL & RISK OF GAS BACKFLOWING.
