TBOS SYSTEM UNDERGROUND RAIN
GB
SHUTOFF.
This underground rain shutoff is designed to prevent irrigation
when natural rainfall provides sufficient water for your plants.
The concept is simple. The device is buried in sand at a location
outside the irrigated area. It detects soil moisture resulting from
rainfall. Before any automatic or manual irrigation start, the
TBOS control module monitors the device. If the sand is dry or
only slightly humid, the underground shutoff device allows the
irrigation start. If the sand is sufficiently wet, the device prevents
the irrigation start.
An ON/OFF switch is included to deactivate the shutoff device
without disconnecting it. This feature allows you to manually
start irrigation for system start-up and maintenance tests even if
the soil is moist. You can also deactivate the shutoff device if you
need supplemental watering.
Example : After fertilizer applications.
Installation : It is important to install the shutoff device outside
the irrigated area. For best results, split up the water application
into several cycles. However, if the site configuration (example :
roundabout) makes it impossible to install the shutoff outside the
irrigated area, make sure that it is installed in the area watered
by the last station. In this case, do not split up the water
application.
1. Place the unit in a flat position in a hole at a depth of 5 cm with
the probes pointing up. Cover the device with dry sand from a
quarry. Soil or sand from the seashore contains minerals which
may result in moisture measurement errors. Avoid placing any
fertilizer on the sand. Make sure you mark the location where the
device is installed for eventual maintenance and to prevent any
future fertilizer aplications in the area.
