- FUNCTIONING

2.1 OPERATING PRINCIPLE

The electronic part of the system implements the concept (Gimoto/Conti patent) of virtual cable:
based on a tag inserted in the rider's vest and an electronic anchor on the motorcycle, the
CPU monitors the variations of distance between the two devices, starting from a set speed
(25 km/h "Road" setting / 60 km/h "Racetrack" setting) detected by the integrated GPS. Once
the speed is reached, the system performs a reset based on the distance between the devices
at that moment (fig_2.1).
If the established delta distance of 48 cm between the devices is exceeded, the virtual cable
operates (through the CPU) the pyrotechnic mechanism and activates the airbag (fig_2.2)

2.2 GENERAL INFORMATION

SYSTEM COMPONENTS (fig_2.3):
1 CPU
2 Tag
3 Electronic anchor
4 Velcro fastener
5 Pyrotechnical actuator
The CPU (1) has a connection cable (2) permanently connected to the Tag (embedded in the
vest), a USB port (3) for recharging the battery, an on/off switch (4) and a LED interface (5)
to signal the system operating status (fig_2.4).
The Tag (2) incorporated in the vest and the electronic anchor use a UWB protocol, see
certifications in the attached documents (DWM1001).
