General information
1.1
Description
The rupture valve is a safety component which prevents the car from exceeding a certain downward speed. It blocks
the oil flow from the cylinder and consequently stops the car when its downward speed exceeds max the nominal
speed + 0.3 m/s.
The rupture valve has to be directly connected to the cylinder or properly joined to it with steel pipes and welded or
threaded fittings (see EN 81.2:1998, A1:2005, A2:2004). The same requirements are mentioned in the new normative
EN81-20:2014, EN81-50:2014.
OMARLIFT rupture valves are certified according to the European Lift Directive 95/16/EC and the new Lift Directive
2014/33/EU, therefore they are related to the European regulations EN81-2:1998+A3:2009 and the new normative
EN81-20:2014, EN81-50:2014.
The EC type examination certificate are reported in the following tables:

The new certificate numbers will be valid also for the normative EN81-2.
OMARLIFT rupture valves are supplied together with their identification label which lays directly on the body of the
valve. This label shows the following data (see example label):
• valve type
• commission number
• year of construction
• tripping flow
• max. static pressure
• certification number, number of the certification body, CE mark.
These "Operating instructions" are an integral part of the installation and have to be kept in a safe and accessible
place.
