Configuring the ODU for operation in the EU
Generate a country-specific License Key
In the PTP 670 series, a License Key is used to activate new features, and to alter the regulatory settings of an
ODU. The new License Key will include the regulatory bands allowed in the specified country of operation. Use
this procedure to generate the License Key.
Procedure:
Navigate to the Cambium Support Center at:
https://support.cambiumnetworks.com/licensekeys/ptp50670
Enter the ODU MAC Address and select the Country where the PTP link will be deployed.
Agree to the Terms and Conditions and click on Submit
Locate the ODU by MAC address and copy the generated License Key from the License Keys page
Save the License Key (for example by pasting to a text editor and saving the file) for future use
Configure the management PC
Use this procedure to configure the local management PC to communicate with the PTP 670.
Procedure:
Select Properties for the Ethernet port. In Windows 10 this is found in Control Panel > Network and
Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings. Right-click on the icon for the
Ethernet adaptor and select Properties.
Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4):
Click Properties.
Enter an IP address that is valid for the 169.254.X.X network, avoiding 169.254.0.0 and 169.254.1.1. A good
example is 169.254.1.3.
Enter a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0. Leave the default gateway blank.
Connect the ODU to the PC and powering up
Use this procedure to connect a management PC and power up the PTP 670.
Procedure:
Check that the ODU and PSU are correctly connected.
Connect the PC Ethernet port to the LAN port of the PSU using a standard (not crossed) Ethernet cable.
Apply mains or battery power to the PSU. The green Power LED should illuminate continuously.
After about 45 seconds, check that the orange Ethernet LED starts with 10 slow flashes.
