Product Description
The Invacare Propad cushions and Overlays are made of foam incorporating geometrically cut
sections that operate independently to provide maximum immersion and even weight
distribution. These sections also allow air to circulate, both around the patient and around the
cushion itself, this helps the skin to keep cool and the product ventilated. The water-resistant
cover provides a vapour-permeable, two-way stretch surface, to ensure patient comfort and
maximise the effectiveness of the foam. The Invacare Propad cushions/overlay provide the
optimum prevention of pressure ulcers for those 'At Risk' patients. The low profile cushion is for
comfort only. The Invacare Propad Overlay provides protection for 'High Risk' patients.
Repositioning
It is very important for the patient to reposition themselves, or to be repositioned, on a regular
basis. This relieves pressure, helps prevent both tissue compression and potential pressure ulcer
formation.
Cleaning and Care
The cover can be wiped down using a solution of neutral detergent eg hot soapy water, a single-
use wipe, or laundered at 80°C.
NB. Cleaning agents containing phenols or alcohols should not be used.
!
The cover should be drip-dried thoroughly before being refitted to the cushion or overlay. Do not
tumble dry. For heavy soiling, the cover may be laundered at 80°C with a dilute detergent
solution.
Maintenance and Storage
Overlays and cushions (foam and cover) should be checked for strike-through, fluid
ingress, tears or damage, on a monthly basis by a suitably qualified or competent
person.
The inner foam should be regularly inspected. Should the cover become damaged then
the overlays and cushions should not be used until a replacement cover is fitted.
In the event of the cover being contaminated, please ask your Infection Control Officer
for advice. Store in a dry environment.
Contaminated Foams Should Not Be Reused
!
