General Notes
Vent valves are high-quality fittings which require a particularly careful handling. The
sealing surfaces on the stem and housing are precisely machined to achieve the
required tightness. Always avoid the penetration of foreign particles into the valve
during assembly and during the operation. The tightness of a vent valve can be
impaired when using hemp, Teflon tape, as well as through welding beads, among
other things. Rough handling of the finished valve during storage, transport and
assembly can result in a valve leaking.
When planning and arranging vent valves, the following points must be considered:
- The acting operating pressures (pressure shocks/pulsating pressures).
The pressures specified in the data sheet apply to static loads. For cyclic
and alternating loads, corresponding pressure reductions must be taken into
consideration.
- The selected materials and sealants must be suitable for the application.
- The connections of the pipeline and/or flange must have the same pressure
rating as the connections of the vent valve and be of the same type.

Range of Application
For details on the range of application of the individual versions please refer to the
datasheets of the manufacturer.

Installation and Assembly
To guarantee perfect function of the valves, they must be mounted so that no
unauthorized static, dynamic or thermal loads can take effect.
Apart from this, it has to be verified whether the provided valves comply with the
required specification and whether they are suitable for the intended purpose befo-
re valve installation. Apart from this it must be checked that the valves are free from
damage and contamination. If this is not the case, the valves must not be installed.
Any existing protective caps are to be removed. Installation must only be performed
by qualified staff, and when the pipeline system is unpressurised. Pipes are to be
flushed to remove residues before valve installation. Such residues may cause
damage to the valve interior and result in functional disorder including valve failure.
The valve is operated in a vertical installation position. The system connection must
point downward.
As regards valves with welded ends, care is to be taken during installation / welding
that the seals are not overheated. It must also be ensured that no welding residues
enter the valve. Any welding residues that occur must be removed completely.
Appropriate measures are to be taken.
