DESCRIPTION (#1):
The NELFF anchor strap is a personal protective equipment
against the risk of falling from heights.
The NELFF anchor strap is intended to create temporary
anchoring on a structure (beam, mast, pole, shaft) for a fall
arrest equipment limiting the force to 600 daN in case of fall.
It is usable for forestry works. The NELFF anchor strap, used
as a «false crotch» is installed from the ground by projecting
a «throw bag» around a branch or a tree (see § Use in false
crotch). It can also be used to create an anchor point on the
head of a pole from the ground (see § Use in pole anchoring).
In this case, the NELFF anchor strap is combined with the NPAP
pole anchoring system (#1-B-3 and #1-B-5) and the NPERT5
telescopic pole (#1-B-6) to remotely surround the head of a
pole and thus create a temporary anchor point.
The NELFF anchor strap is a personal protective equipment
classified as an anchoring device that has been tested in
accordance with the EN 795 standard: 2012 Type B for use by one
person (R = 18kN). The NELFF anchor strap is made of 30 mm wide
polyester webbing. The ends are equipped with either a large
aluminum ring and a small aluminum ring or a large aluminum
ring and a free end sewn with the option of connecting a
removable connector. It comes in 3 lengths: 0,9m, 1,2m or 1,5m.
USE IN FALSE FORK (#2):
INSTALLATION (#2-A) :
1 - Select the branch that will be the working structure with the
throw bag method.
2 - Secure the small ring of the anchor strap on the throw bag.
The support rope of the throw bag passes through the large
ring.
3 - Tilt and lower the throw bag so that the anchor strap
surrounds the support branch.
4 - The support rope of the throw bag passes through the 2 rings.
5 - In place of the throw bag, make a knot between the
support rope of the throw bag and the final working rope.
Then reassemble the rope so that the final working rope passes
through the 2 rings of the anchor strap. The knot must be thin
enough to pass through the 2 rings.
DISASSEMBLY (#2-B) :
1 - The 2 rings at the ends of the NELFF strap are of different
colours (black and orange). Make a knot on the working rope
on the side of the large black ring. To prevent the NELFF
product from falling to the ground, the user can connect a cord
to the knot of the working rope.
2 - Raise the knot. It passes through the large black ring and
then abuts the small orange ring.
3 - Continue pulling on the working rope. The knot drives the
small ring towards the ground.
4 - The large ring does not fall to the ground since it is held by
the cord.
USE IN POLE ANCHORING (#3):
INSTALLATION (#3) :
1 - Place the pole anchoring system {NELFF + NPAP} on the end
of the NPERT5 telescopic pole.
2 - Correctly index the tip of the NPAP to lock it on the pole.
3 - On the end fitted with a removable connector, connect a
suitable fall arrest system (for example, a mobile fall arrester
on EN353-2 flexible anchor line or EN360 automatic return fall
arrest system).
Position the detachable connector on the hook of the NPAP tip
so that the weight of the fall arrest system does not close the
loop formed by the NELFF anchor strap.
4 - Encircle the head of the pole by checking for the presence of
a stop without sharp edges on the pole. This stop is mandatory
to prevent any slippage of the NELFF strap along the pole.
5 - Separate the hook connector from the NPAP tip by
performing wave effects on the fall arrest system or on the pole.
6 - Pull the connector through the fall arrest system to close the
loop formed by the NELFF strap on the pole. During use, the
telescopic pole remains in position along the pole.
DISASSEMBLY :
For disassembly, remove the anchor strap using the telescopic
pole from the top of the pole.
VERIFICATIONS :
- If there is any doubt on the reliability of the equipment, do
not use it without getting the written authorisation of a person
who is authorised to decide on its reuse.
- During assembly with other safety components, check the
compatibility of each of the components and ensure that all
the recommendations contained in the instructions of the
