B)Using an AC/DC adaptor (special accessory - not included)
It is possible to operate this blood pressure instrument, through an AC/DC adapter not included
(output 6 V DC / 600mA with DIN plug). Make certain that you use an AC/DC adapter which fulfils
the legal requirements. These can be purchased at most electronics stores.
The AC/DC adaptor should not exceed 600 mA
a) Plug the DIN plug into the socket at the back of the instrument.
b) Plug the AC/DC adapter into a 120 V power socket.
Test that power is available by pressing the Start/Stop button.
Note:
No power is taken from the batteries while the AC/DC adapter is connected to the instrument.
If the voltage is interrupted during the
measurement (e.g. by removal of the
AC/DC adapter from the socket), the
instrument must be reset by removing
the plug from its socket.
5. How to take a measurement
A) Preparation
Avoid eating, smoking or exercise before measurement as the readings will be affected.
Relax in an armchair in a quiet atmosphere for 10 minutes before taking a blood pressure
measurement.
Remove any tight fitting clothing from the upper arm.
Choose the arm you are going to use for the measurement, usually the left arm. Always use
the same arm, and hold it in the same position each time you take a measurement.
Please Note: Blood pressure varies constantly throughout the day. Therefore only readings
taken at the same time of day and under the same conditions are comparable.
The arm will become heavy with blood if several consecutive measurements are taken,
resulting in a wide variation of measurement values. Therefore, repeat measurements
should be made after a period of rest, (a few minutes), or after raising the arm to relieve
the engorged condition.
