INSTALL OPTIONAL BLADE
Tools Required: Locking Tool, T-Wrench.
Parts Required: Upper Plate w/ 20 mm pilot, Lower Plate, 10 mm Nut w/
L.H. threads, 2 x 25 mm Cotter Pin, Blade, 10 mm collar
(Type "B" gearcase only)
IMPORTANT
This kit can be mounted on two different style gear housings. A
shaft collar (A) included in this kit, may be required to properly
mount the blade. Failure to install shaft collar will cause the blade
upper plate (B) to bind. Refer to the assembly instructions below to
identify shaft collar assembly.
1. Check type of gear housing assembly on unit:
• Type A gear housings with black bearing seal do not require the
shaft collar.
• Type B gear housings with silver bearing seal, install shaft collar
(A) on splined shaft before installing upper plate (B).
WARNING
Only install blades specifically approved for use on your model
unit by ECHO, INC.
2. Install upper plate (B) with proper diameter pilot (20 mm or 25 mm)
on splined shaft. Pilot must match blade center hole for proper fit.
3. Place blade (C) over upper plate pilot and install the "lower plate"
(D) and L.H. nut (E). Tri-Cut blade (F) is installed with glide cup (G).
WARNING
Blade must be installed so that teeth point in the direction of
rotation. Direction of blade rotation is indicated by an arrow on
the metal shield safety label.
4. Insert locking tool (H) through hole in upper plate and notch in
gear housing (I) to prevent splined shaft from turning. Tighten nut
(E) and secure with a cotter pin (J).
WARNING
Never reuse a cotter pin - install a new cotter pin each time a blade
is installed or replaced.
5. Remove locking tool (H).
