NEVER leave the unit unattended while operating.
Smoking
During first use, you may notice slight smoking or a slight odor; this is normal
with most new appliances. The smoking and odor is caused by the residues
burning off the nonstick Cooking Plates and the Heating Element. Allow
the appliance to preheat until smoke and odor no longer exists.
Making Empanadas

Place the empanada dough on a floured countertop and roll into a

Cut the dough into circles, slightly larger than the Empanada
Former. Place in the Empanada Former.
•
Place 2-3 tablespoons of your desired
filling in the center of the dough.
•
Close the empanada former so sides of dough
cinch together. Remove the excess dough from the
outside of the empanada former. If the edges of the
dough do not stick together, dab water or egg wash
along the inside edge of the dough and try again.
•
Brush both sides of formed empanadas
with egg wash, if desired.
•
Place in preheated wells of Lower Cooking Surface. Close the Lid and cook for 3-7 minutes.
•
Open Lid with a pot holder or oven mitt. Remove each with a wooden or plastic
kitchen utensil. DO NOT use metal utensils as they can scratch the surface.

CLEANING & MAINTENANCE
Please take care of your EMPANADA MAKER by following these
simple instructions and precautions. Cleaning is a snap.
•
Disconnect from the electrical outlet by unplugging the appliance.
Make sure the appliance is completely cool before cleaning.
•
Wash the Empanada Former in warm, soapy water with a non-
abrasive cloth or sponge and dry thoroughly.
•
Wipe Upper and Lower Cooking Surfaces with a damp, non-
abrasive sponge or cloth. Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.
•
Wipe the exterior of the Main Unit with a dry, non-abrasive cloth.
•
NEVER use scouring pads or abrasive cleaners on this unit
as it will damage the surface and parts.
•
DO NOT put any parts in the dishwasher.
•
NEVER immerse the EMPANADA MAKER in water.
