Function
The higher-order controller generates switching signals to control the process
valve, e.g. open the valve. The integrated valve block of the C-TOP+ then activates
the actuator of the process valve via the working ports A1 to A2 or A3, thereby
switching the process valve to the required setting.
The pneumatic supply for the integrated solenoid valves is provided centrally via
port 1. The exhaust air is also dissipated locally via the integrated silencer (port 3).
The position of the actuator's control rod is detected by sensors inside the C-TOP+.
The sensors, which are arranged in the sensor bracket around the control rod, are
actuated contact-free by a magnet attached to the control rod. On activation, an
electrical circuit is closed, and a corresponding signal is provided on the electrical
connection.

Transport and storage
When shipping used products: Comply with all legal requirements for handling
hazardous substances and transporting dangerous goods. For return to Inoxpa
è Chapter 2.
Store the product in a cool, dry, UV- and corrosion-protected environment. En
sure storage times are short.
5
Installation
Note
Installation should only be conducted by qualified specialized personnel.
Note
Ferrous materials (e.g. steel parts and sheets) in the immediate vicinity of prox
imity switches (sensors) can result in unwanted switching signals.
During assembly, maintain the required minimum distances from ferrous ma
terials.
Mounting position:
Make sure there is a free space of at least 150 mm above the hood
Caution
Before starting assembly work, make sure the compressed air and power
supply are switched off and the actuator of the process valve is pressureless.
Secure the system against accidental restarting.
An adapter plate is supplied with the C-TOP+ for mounting on the specified actuat
ors (è Section 4). The adapter plate has 2 through-holes to facilitate mounting.
When mounting, make sure the connection surfaces and seals are clean.
Before mounting
1. Ensure there is no voltage or pressure applied.
2. Secure system against accidental restarting.
Mount sealing rings, adapter plate and magnet
The actuator must be initially prepared on the mounting of the C-TOP+.
1. Grease the sealing rings (è Fig. 4 1 , 6) slightly with a suitable nitrile rubber
grease for O-rings.
2. Insert sealing rings in the associated slot of the adapter plate.
– Sealing ring a in the slot on the bottom of the adapter plate
– Sealing ring b in the side slot of the adapter plate
3. Place the adapter plate on the actuator and secure in place with the two sup
plied mounting screws (M5) – tightening torque 0.7 Nm ±10 %.
Whether a magnet holder (è Fig. 4 7) is required depends on the actuator.
4. Attach magnet (è Fig. 4 aJ) to the control rod or magnet holder, using the
mounting screw with washers (2) and retaining washers (è Fig. 4) – tightening
torque 1 Nm ±10 %.

Mount cable connector and blanking plug
If required, mount the cable connector and blanking plug (è Fig. 1 aC ) – tight
ening torque max. 3 Nm.
Mounting the C-TOP+
As a rule, the pneumatic ports of the actuator and the C-TOP+ must be situated on
the same side and the LED must be easily visible.
When mounting, make sure the C-TOP+ is appropriately aligned

Ring gear
1. Loosen the three mounting screws on the sub-base (è Fig. 5 1) by approx. 3
rotations, so that the C-TOP+ can be attached to the mounted adapter plate.
2. Carefully position the C-TOP+ on the mounted adapter plate with the required
alignment.
3. Press and turn the C-TOP+ anti-clockwise slightly so that the teeth of the sub-
base engage properly in the ring gear of the adapter plate.
4. Secure the C-TOP+ in place with the three lateral screws (è Fig. 5 1) – tighten
ing torque 0.4 Nm ±10 %.
5.1 Electrical installation
Warning
Only use power sources which guarantee reliable electrical isolation of the
operating voltage as per IEC/DIN EN 60204-1.
Observe the general requirements for PELV circuits in accordance with
IEC/DIN EN 60204-1.
Caution
Installation errors can damage the electronics or cause malfunctions.
Switch off the power supply before connecting or disconnecting plug connec
tors (otherwise functional damage).
Use an electrical connecting cable with a nominal outside diameter of 4.5 to
10 mm.
Make sure that the length of the signal cable does not exceed the permissible
length of 30 m.
