National Technical Approval
No.Z-40.11-280, dated 22 July 2016
GRP containers, 1,000 l, 1,300 I, 1,500 I, 2,000 I and 2,350 I
Approved fill level
(1) When determining the approved fill level, the cubic coefficient of expansion of the liquids
with which a container is filled must be taken into account, as must possible warming of the
liquid during storage, with an associated increase in volume.
(2) If the liquid is filled in a cool state within the limits stipulated in section 1 (3) of the national
technical approval, the associated expansions must be taken into account when determining
the fill level.
(3) For the storage of liquids hazardous to water without any additional hazardous properties
(toxic or caustic pursuant to (EU) regulation no. 1272/2008) in stationary containers, the
approved fill level at the filling temperature can be determined as follows:
Fill level =
The mean cubic coefficient of expansion α can be determined as follows:
d15 = Density of the liquid at +15°C d50 = Density of the liquid at +50°C.
(4) For containers for storing liquids hazardous to water that are classified as toxic or caustic
pursuant to (EU) regulation no. 1272/2008 (CLP Regulation), a fill level at least 3% lower than
that determined in accordance with paragraph (3) should be adhered to.
