Provisions for use, maintenance, servicing and inspection
5.1
Use
5.1.1
Stored liquids
(1) The stored liquids must not tend toward viscosity
(2) It is not permitted to store the liquids listed in Section 1 (3) when mixed with each other or
with other substances, or if a different liquid has already been stored in the container. The
storage of contaminated liquids is not permitted if this contamination would change the
behaviour of the material.
5.1.2
Useful container volume
(1) The approved fill level of containers must be dimensioned such that the containers do not
overflow. Excess pressures that adversely affect the tightness or strength of the containers
must not occur.
(2) The approved fill level of the containers shall be determined in accordance with Annex 6.
The overfill protection device shall be set up accordingly.
(3) For liquids with a cubic coefficient of expansion of α ≤ 1.50 · 10
classified as toxic or caustic under (EU) regulation no. 1272/2008 (CPL Regulation),
paragraph (1) is considered fulfilled if the fill level does not exceed 95% of the capacity.
5.1.3
Documentation
The container manufacturer must give the following documents to the system operator:
-
Copy of this national technical approval
-
Copy of the usability certificate from the building authorities for the limit indicator and/or
overfill protection system suitable for the type of use
-
Installation instructions for setting up the individual container and/or the container system
-
If a leak indicator is connected to the interstitial space, the operator must also be given a
copy of the usability certificate issued by the building authorities for the leak indicator
suitable for the type of use in question
When set up as a container system, additionally:
-
Copy of the national technical approval for the type "C-B 3" filling system.
5.1.4
Operation
5.1.4.1
General
(1) Before commissioning the containers that are not in use as part of a container system, the
operator must affix a sign at a suitable place to identify the stored liquid. Identification
required by other regulations shall not be affected.
(2) Operation shall comply with the operating directives of the Act on Installations Handling
Materials Hazardous to Water.
(3) If the leak indicator emits an alarm signal, the alarm shall be both visual and acoustic.
At 4°C, the kinematic viscosity of the stored liquid must not exceed 5,000 cSt.
