i)
Clean the chimney at least once a year.
j) The joints of the tubes forming the chimney, in the event of using simple metal
tubes, must be sealed using refractory filler. Each tube must fit into the next to
prevent any creosote from reaching the outside.
k) The exterior metal chimneys must be built with special double heat-resistant tubes
for solid fuel.
1.2.6- GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE INSTALLATION OF THE STOVE
Install the stove on an isolated base.
It is important to isolate the stove from the floor so as to prevent the heat from the stove
being absorbed.
Position the stove in an appropriate place to achieve optimum performance.
The best location is usually the living room, as it is a large area and is normally located in the
centre of the home.
If the house has two floors, it is better to position the stove on the ground floor and close to
the staircase well.
Once the installation has been completed, it is necessary to maintain it, for which the
necessary controls should be carried out regularly so that the chimney functions correctly
and to avoid its deterioration.
1.3.1- INSPECTION OF THE CHIMNEY
Certain sections of special pipes in the shape of a "T" make inspection and maintenance
relatively easy.
By removing the lower lid of the "T", the set of pipes may be cleaned by means of an anti-
soot brush.
The waste which is released from inside the pipes can be collected in a bin bag or bucket
positioned in the lower part of the chimney. A mirror held at an angle enables the easy
inspection of the chimney.
