TROUBLESHOOTING
SYMPTOMS
The welding wire speed is not
constant.
The wire feeder motor doesn't
operate.
Bad wire feed .
No welding current
The wire jams (after the
rollers)
The welding bead is porous
The arc produces a lot of
sparks
No gas flow at the end of the
torch
The Spool Gun does not work.
In Spool Gun mode, the
welding bead is poor quality
POSSIBLE CAUSES
Debris is blocking the opening.
The wire skids in the rollers.
Reel or roller brake too tight.
Electrical supply problem.
Covering wire guide dirty or
damaged.
Reel brake too tight
Bad connection to the main supply.
Bad earth connection.
Torch trigger inoperative
Guide wire guide crushed.
Wire jammed in the torch
No capillary tube.
Wire speed too fast
The gas flow rate is not sufficient.
Gas bottle empty.
Gas quality unsatisfactory
Air flow or wind influence.
Gas nozzle dirty.
Poor quality wire
Workpiece in bad condtion. (rust,
etc...)
Arc voltage too low or too high.
Bad earth connection.
Insufficient gas flow
No gas connection.
Connection problem
The tension setting of the rollers is
too tight. Wrong position of the
wire-speed knob on the spool gun.
REMEDIES
Clean out the contact tip or change it
and replace the anti-adherence product.
Ref.041806
- Check the roller pressure or replace it.
- Wire diameter incompatible with roller
- Covering wire guide in the torch
incompatible.
Adjust the brake and rollers.
Check that the power switch is in the
"On" position.
Clean or replace
Adjust the brake
Check the mains connection and ensure
the supply is 230 V (1PH) WITH earth.
Check the earth cable (connection and
clamp condition).
Check the torch trigger.
Check the sheath and torch body.
Clean or replace.
Check the presence of capillary tube.
Reduce the wire speed
Adjusting flow rate to 15 to 20 L / min.
Clean the work-piece
Replace it.
Replace it.
Prevent drafts, protect welding area
Clean or replace the gas nozzle.
Use suitable WIRE for MIG-MAG welding.
Clean the metal before welding.
See welding settings.
Check and place the earth cable (cable
and clamp condition)
Adjust the gas flow.
Check and adjust the gas connection on
the machine. Check the flowmeter and
the solenoid valves.
Check the torch connections (power and
control connectors).
Adjust the tension screw of the rollers.
Adjust the wire speed setting on the
spool gun
