The brushes are rotated by the hydraulic motors 1-2 (fi g.8), controlled by
a lever 4 on the directional control valve (fi g.3).
Raising and lowering of the brushes is controlled by the levers 8-9 (fi g.3)
FIG.8 BRUSH OPERATION ELEMENTS
1) Main brush hydraulic motor, 2) Side brush hydraulic
motor, 3) Side brush trace
Side brushes
The side brushes sweep dirt from the edges of fl oors and from corners, and direct
it to the centre of the sweeper where it can be picked up by the main brush.
Adjusting the side brushes
Check that the shapes of the traces left by the side brushes are as shown
in Fig.8 pos.3. As the bristles of the side brushes wear down, adjust the
height of the brushes from the fl oor to maintain these traces. Proceed as
follows:
Lowering the side brush using the lever 4 (fi g.8)
Turn the handwheel 5 (fi g.8) anti-clockwise until to get the correct
trace as required (fi g.8 pos.3)
The angle of the side brush is adjusted by means of the screw 7
(fi g.8). The side brushes «fl oat» and are protected by safety disks
6 (Fig. 8). When they come into contact with unmovable objects
(such as pillars, walls, etc.) disc 6 turns and the brush unit retracts,
avoiding knocks. This ensures that the brushes are not damaged.
Replacing the side brushes
When the side brushes are worn they have to be replaced by proceeding as follows:
Unscrew the four screws 8 (Fig. 8) and the brush comes away from its support.
After fi tting the new brush, repeat the adjustment operations described, turning
the handwheel 5 (fi g.8) in the opposite direction (clockwise) to that described for
adjustment untill to get the correct trace as required (fi g.8 pos.3)
Main brush
The main brush sweeps dust and refuse into the bin at the rear of
the motor sweeper.
CAUTION!
NEVER SWEEP UP STRINGS, WIRE, ETC., WHICH CAN
BECOME ENTANGLED IN THE BRUSH AND DAMAGE THE
BRISTLES.

Adjusting the main brush

The main brush should just touch the fl oor, leaving an even trace
6-8 cm wide when it rotates. Procede as follows to adjust the main
bush:
Lowering the main brush by lever 9 (fi g.8)
Turn the handwheel 10 (fi g.8) in clockwise sense untill to
get the correct trace as required (fi g.8 pos.9)
When adjusting the main brush, the mobile barrier 12 (fi g. 8) on the
refuse bin inlet must also be adjusted. Proceed as follows:
Lift the hopper;
Back off the adjusting nuts 11 (fi g.8) on the sides of the mobile barrier;
turn the mobile barrier down by about half a slot Tighten the nuts 11 (fi g.8)
DANGER! CRUSHING AND KNOCKS
WHEN LIFTING THE HOPPER FOR WORK TO BE DONE UNDERNEATH IT, SUCH
AS ADJUSTMENT OF THE MOBILE SHIELD, IT IS COMPULSORY TO FIT THE
SAFETY BRACKETS ON THE RODS OF THE LIFTING CYLINDERS, SEE « HOPPER»
SECTION: WHEN THE JOB IS DONE, REMOVE THE BRACKETS AND RETURN
THEM TO THEIR PLACE. A SAFETY HELMET MUST ALSO BE WORN TO LIMIT
INJURY DUE TO KNOCKS ON THE HEAD, AND GLOVES AND/OR GOGGLES MUST
BE WORN IF NECESSARY.

Cleaning the dust guide plate

If the motor sweeper is used outdoors (courtyards, squares, etc.)
where the ground may be damp, dirt may build up on the front part
of the main brush dust guide plate, (Fig.8 pos.13) reducing the
effi ciency of the machine.
Check the condition of the dust guide plate at regular intervals and
remove any encrusted dirt with a metal scraper.
