7 Installation and electrical connection
The installation and electrical connection work must be done in accordance
with local regulations and only by qualified personnel.
WARNING! Risk of personal injury
The accident prevention regulations in force must be observed.
WARNING! Danger of electric shock
Danger from electrical current must be eliminated.
Local directives or general directives [e.g. IEC, VDE etc.] and local power
supply companies must be adhered to.
7. 1 Installation
• Switch off the plant/switch cabinet at the mains.
CAUTION! Risk of damage to the interface converter
• The converter must be installed in a housing with an IP-protection class suitable
for operation.
• The interface converters are snapped on to a DIN rail 35 mm (IEC 60715).
• Connect 24 VDC voltage supply to the DigiCon interface converters (Fig. 5).
NOTE: If there is no 24 VDC voltage supply available in the switch cabinet, a
separate power supply unit has to be installed in the switch cabinet with the
corresponding output voltage.
The output current of the power supply unit depends on the number of DigiCon
components to be connected.
• The DigiCon-A manual operation level is installed on the right next to the
corresponding DigiCon converter, and is then pushed against the interface
converter until the side contacts engage. Two manual DigiCon-A operation
levels can be connected to each DigiCon interface converter (Fig. 4).
• Connect pump(s) with PLR interface to the interface converter(s) (Fig. 5).
NOTE: If interface converter and pump(s) are supplied with voltage, the data
transfer via the PLR interface is started automatically.
If no current, pump-based values are set at the interface converters, the factory
pre-set values are sent to the pump(s).
• If not pre-wired in the switch cabinet, connect control and signal contacts and
also analogue signals to the corresponding terminals.
• Identification of the interface converters
NOTE: The DigiCon interface converters and the DigiCon-A manual operation
level have an identification surface (20mm x 10mm, Fig. 1, 2, item 22), on which
the component reference can be indicated according to the plant diagram.
Alternatively, a sticker can be applied to this surface.
