APPENDIX B
TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM
REFLUX BAND
There are large spikes in
the pressure readings.
My Reflux Band is not
improving my reflux
symptoms.
EXTERNAL
Pressure reading
MANOMETER
appears to be inaccurate
or inconsistent.
External Manometer will
not turn on.
External Manometer
reads OP.
External Manometer
reads E0, E1 or E2.
External Manometer
turns off during fitting.
PRESSURE
Pressure reading
SENSOR
appears to be inaccurate
or inconsistent.
Pressure Sensor tubing
or blue pad is bent or
punctured.
POTENTIAL CAUSE(S)
Movement of the Comfort Band
or Comfort Dial is too fast.
The pressure applied by your
Reflux Band is ineffective.
Your Reflux Band is not being
worn correctly.
Check Pressure Sensor
connection
The Battery may be dead.
This is normal as the External
Manometer is preparing for the
fitting.
These are error codes.
The External Manometer will turn
off after 2 minutes to preserve
the battery life.
The connection to the External
Manometer may not be right.
Replace the Pressure Sensor.
SOLUTION
Slow down movement of the Comfort Dial or Velcro
Bands.
Remain still and hold head straight and look forward while
measuring pressure.
Do not talk or eat/drink while measuring pressure.
Review fitting and instruction video.
Set the pressure between 20-30 mmHg. If this pressure is still
not effective, continue increasing the pressure until an
effective pressure is reached.
NOTE: Do not over tighten the device. If any discomfort is
experienced, remove the Reflux Band and talk to your doctor.
Review fitting and instruction video.
Place the device so the Cushion is applying pressure on the
cricoid cartilage below the Adam's apple. No part of the frame
body should be touching your neck, and the Comfort Band
should lie at against your neck without curling or folding.
Detach the Pressure Sensor from the External Manometer and
allow the Pressure Sensor to "breathe" for several seconds
before reapplying.
Always hold the External Manometer during the fitting or rest it
on a solid surface. Do not allow the External Manometer to
hang down from the Pressure Sensor without support.
Also see Pressure Sensor troubleshooting tips.
Replace the (1) AAA battery.
Wait several seconds and the display will read 00. The
External Manometer is now ready to use.

Press the blue button again to reactivate it. It will again display
OP and then 00 when it is ready.
Only attach the Pressure Sensor before you're about to take a
pressure reading. Do not leave the Pressure Sensor attached
to the External Manometer during storage or for prolonged
periods of time.
Ensure the Pressure Sensor is twisted tightly to the External
Manometer.
Ensure the Reflux Band is unclasped when placing the
Cushion over the Pressure Sensor, then re-clasp. Do not
squeeze the blue pad under the cushion while the clasp of the
band is connected.
Ensure the Pressure Sensor is directly under the cushion so
that you can only see the boarder of the Pressure Sensor
evenly around the cushion.
