Notes for consultation
This manual is a comprehensive guide to the creation of a radio link,
without the use of electrical cables, between a unit that controls the auto-
mation of a gate, a garage door or similar, and one or more sensitive edges
installed on the moving leaf of the automation itself.
In the manual, in addition to IRW, other devices are mentioned that are nec-
essary in order to make the link and are not included in the pack.

Warnings and general safety precautions
Important! • Important safety instructions: keep these instructions. •
For the safety of people, it is important to follow these instructions,
therefore, before starting work, read this manual carefully.
Considering the hazards that may occur during installation and use of the devic-
es mentioned in the manual, installation must take place in full compliance with
laws, standards and regulations, in order to ensure maximum safety. Accord-
ing to the most recent European legislation, the automation of a door or
gate falls under the "Machinery Directive" 2006/42/EC (formerly 98/37/
EC) and, in particular, the following standards, which make it possible
to declare compliance with the Machinery Directive: EN 13241-1 (har-
monised standard), EN 12445, EN 12453, EN 12635.
Further information on risk analysis and the creation of the Technical File is
available at www.niceforyou.com.
• This manual is destined solely for technical personnel qualified to perform
installation. No other information contained in the manual may be considered
of interest to the end user!
• The creation of safety systems for automatic doors and gates is subject to
the following standards:
– EN 12453: Industrial, commercial and garage doors and gates. Safety in
use of power-operated doors - Requirements.
– EN 12978: Industrial, commercial and garage doors and gates. Safety de-
vices for power-operated doors and gates - Requirements and test methods.
Accordingly, installing and connecting the devices mentioned in the manual in
order to create a "safety device" that does not meet the requirements of the
listed standard corresponds to negligence and deliberate abuse!
• Do not make changes to any part of the devices mentioned in the manual
if these are not envisaged in the manual itself. Unauthorised changes may
cause malfunctioning. Nice disclaims any liability for damage resulting from
products modified arbitrarily.
• Special warnings regarding the suitability for use of the devices men-
tioned in the manual, in relation to the "Electromagnetic Compatibil-
ity" Directive 2004/108/EC (formerly 89/336/EEC). These devices have
been tested for electromagnetic compatibility in the most critical situations of
use, in the configurations provided for in the manual and in combination with
the articles present in the Nice product catalogue. Therefore, if these devices
are used in different configurations or with products that are not provided for,
electromagnetic compatibility cannot be guaranteed. It is therefore forbidden
to use the devices in these situations until the installer has verified that the
requirements of the Directive in question have been met.
• The devices mentioned in the manual may fall into Category 2 for fault safety
(according to EN 13849-1), only when connected to a control unit that is able
to carry out the "channel test" i.e. check correct operation of the relays, before
starting a manoeuvre, as envisaged by the EN 13849-1 standard. Therefore,
if your unit has an output dedicated to this "test" (on Nice units, this is the
"Phototest" output), it is advisable to connect the IRW interface here in order
to ensure that the whole automation, including the wireless connection, falls
into Category 2 of the aforementioned standard.
• Make sure that the conditions in which the devices are used are compatible
with the data shown in the "Technical Specifications" chapter in their instruc-
tion manuals.
• For electrical connections, use suitable conductors, such as those shown in
the "Installation and Connections" chapter.

Product description and intended use
The IRW device is a radio transceiver equipped with two relays in order to carry
out the command to the automation control unit to which it is wired, at the "Alt"
input. It is equipped with Nice Solemyo Air Net System radio technology and
is only compatible with devices that use this technology. IRW allows you to con-
nect one or more sensitive edges installed on the moving leaf of an automation
for gates, garage doors or similar "wirelessly", without the aid of electrical wires,
