Fig. 12a
With the mast/column assembly upright, lift
it off the ground and move it in place over
the mating bolt holes in the center base
plate, being careful to move slowly enough
to prevent the assembly from rocking or
swinging.
Caution: Sudden movements can
cause the assembly to rock violently.
Again, a second person should help
stabilize and orient mast/column as-
sembly and boom, but must stay clear
of any potential danger.
Fig. 12b
The second person should twist and orient
the base, aligning the column and base
holes, and partially thread four (4)
opposite bolts when the column is posi-
tioned just slightly above the base.
Then the forklift operator should fully lower
the column onto the base while still main-
taining some tension on the lifting strap.
Fig. 12c
Install the remaining four (4) bolts; then
tighten all eight (8) bolts with lock washer
and washer.
Remove forklift forks from lifting strap by
lowering forks straight down then away
from the system. Remove lifting strap
from U-bolt using a long pole.
Once forklift is clear, re-check each bolt
assembly to ensure that lock washers are
fully compressed.
Torque bolt assemblies to 100 ft.-lbs.
