Use the following procedure to configure your VCI for
Point-to-Point Wireless communication. Note that the
steps presented below assume you are running the
Windows 7 operating system on your PC. The steps for
other versions of the Windows operating system may be
slightly different.
1. Insert the Wireless USB adapter in an available USB
port on your PC.
2. Power-on your PC.
3. Connect the VCI to your PC using the USB cable.
i
Allow the VCI to boot completely.
4. Start the VCI Manager software by double-clicking
the icon on the PC desktop.
5. Select the VCI in the VCI Manager Explorer tab and
click the Connect button.
6. Select the Wireless 802.11 tab.
7. Select the Enable Wireless Interface checkbox.
8. Select the Direct Connect checkbox and click apply.
9. Verify your settings in the Confirm Network Settings
screen and click Yes.
Now that your VCI is properly configured for point-to-
point communication, you will need to create a peer-
to-peer network with your computer. The following
steps assume you are running the Windows 7 operating
system on your PC.
1. On the right-hand side of the Windows Task Bar,
click the View Wireless Networks button. A list of
the available wireless networks in range of your PC
is displayed. This list includes the SSID's (Service
Set Identifiers) that identify the different available
networks.
2. Find and click the SSID that represents your VCI. To
make this easy, the correct SSID is identified in the
dialog box by the serial number of your VCI.
3. Click the Connect button. A message appears at the
bottom of the screen telling you that you are con-
necting to your VCI wirelessly.
Your Point-to-Point wireless network is now ready to
use. Note that you will need to repeat the above steps
in Windows to re-connect to your VCI each time you re-
start your laptop/PC.

Clearing Network Settings
Selecting the Clear Network Settings button on the Net-
work Setup tab reconfigures your VCI to the communi-
cations settings it had when it left the factory. Only the
USB interface is enabled. Any software upgrades that
have been installed to the VCI are still installed. When
the VCI reset is finished, the VCI Manager software dis-
plays the VCI Explorer tab.
