Equipment and safety
devices
The equipment, installation and operation of
hydraulic accumulators are subject to different
regulations in different countries.
In the Federal Republic of Germany, for
example, they are regulated by the "Industrial
Safety Regulation" (BetrSichV) or EN 14359.
This stipulates the following minimum
equipment:
– Shut-off device
– Device which protects against excessive
pressure (must be type-tested, either using
a prototype or through individual expert
assessment)
– Pressure release device between the
hydraulic accumulator and the shut-off
device
– Pressure measurement device marked with
the maximum permitted operating pressure
– Connection point for a test pressure gauge
The following can also be fitted:
– Safety device for excess temperature
– Electro-magnetic operated pressure release
valve
For further safety information and relevant
equipment (accessories), please refer to the
following brochures:
"HYDAC Accumulator Technology"
No. 3.000
"Safety equipment for hydraulic accumulators"
No. 3.552
"Charging and testing unit FPU"
No. 3.501
"Safety and shut-off block SAF/DSV"
No. 3.551
NOTICE
Before mounting permanently attached
adapters on the gas side of a bladder
accumulator, the gas valve insert (3) must be
removed, see fold-out page.

Transport and storage
Transportation
The transport of gas-filled hydraulic
accumulators must be carried out with the
utmost care and in compliance with all relevant
transport safety regulations (e.g. on public
roads, dangerous goods regulations, etc).
Only appropriate load carrying equipment may
be used for transport and handling:
Hemp rope or transport strapping (2 I),
transport caps (2II) or magnets for rounded
objects (2 III).
NOTICE
Do not use chains.
Do not use steel cables.
Appropriate load carrying equipment is listed in
the following catalogue section:
"Bladder accumulators – Standard design"
No. 3.201
DANGER
Any damaged bladder accumulator must not
be put into operation.
Storage
The hydraulic accumulator can be stored in
any position. To prevent dirt from entering the
hydraulic accumulator, it must be ensured that
the hydraulic connections are sealed off.
If the storage conditions are dry, cool and
protected from direct sunlight, this period can
be extended to up to 3 months.
If the storage period exceeds 3 months, the
pre-charge pressure (p
2 bar to prevent the bladder from becoming
deformed. During commissioning, the hydraulic
fluid must flow into the hydraulic accumulator
slowly to prevent the bladder from being
destroyed.
If a bladder accumulator is to be stored for
more than one year, it must be disassembled
and the hydraulic accumulator and bladder
must be stored separately.
When storing elastomers, DIN 7716 "Rubber
Products, Guidelines for Storage, Maintenance
and Cleaning" must be complied with.
