5.4 Final assembly

CAUTION
Risk of falls due to changes in the prosthesis geometry
The adapter may turn while the prosthesis is in use if there is any contamination on the contact
surfaces.
Prior to final assembly (i.e. prior to inserting the tube adapter into the tube clamp adapter), the
inside of the tube clamp adapter and the outside part of the tube adapter which slides into the
tube clamp adapter must be cleaned with a degreasing cleaning agent (e.g. 634A3 acetone)!
CAUTION
Risk of falling due to loosening of the set screws while the prosthesis is in use
The applied strains can cause the set screws to come loose.
• Secure the set screws with 636K13 Loctite® and observe the prescribed tightening torques.
1) Use 636K13 Loctite® to install the set screws.
2) Pre-tighten the set screws in the clockwise direction using the 710D4 torque wrench.
Tightening torque: 10 Nm.
3) During final assembly, tighten the set screws in the clockwise direction using the 710D4 torque
wrench.
Tightening torque 15 Nm (see Fig. 1
Replace set screws which seem too long or too short for the adjusted position by set screws of
suitable length.
Use the 710D4 torque wrench to tighten the cap screw!
Use the 710D4 torque wrench to tighten the cap screw, both for trial fitting and for final assembly.
Tightening torque 10 Nm (see Fig. 1

6 Maintenance/repair

INFORMATION
The fundamental design of all Ottobock adapters allows for a possible period of use of 3 to 5 years,
depending on the patient's activity level.
In general, we recommend regular annual safety inspections.
The safety inspections must be performed by a prosthetist.
