Operation
The Arnold IZ 1 vice is 2-way hydraulic clamping system. It requires a hydraulic group. There is a
moveable jaw with an automatic forwards and backwards motion.
Working Pressure should not exceed 300bar.
Clamping Pressure: 1.75 ton with a 250bar oil pressure
There are 3 alternative hydraulic feeding/entry points;
• 2 on the sides of the vice
• 1 on the base of the vice
The feeding/entry points on the sides of the vice are 2 ports each with threaded caps (G1/4").
Taking the fi xed jaw as a point of reference, the holes nearest to it are the pull action and those furthest
are the push action.
The hydraulic feeding procedure at the base of the vice has 2 countersink holes. These holes are sealed
with 'O' rings to avoid oil loss. When the vices are designed to clamp without using connecting tubes, the
holes are made to coincide with those of the base or fi xture on which the vice is clamped. These holes
are supplied with their corresponding screws and washers. The 'O' ring is delivered apart.
Locating System
The vice has 2 sets of slots; 2 are longitudinal and 2 transversal. The slots are made to H7 tolerance.
The vice jaws are ground with reference to these slots so as to facilitate fast and accurate clamping.
Clamping System
There are 2 clamping systems.
• external
• internal
For external clamping on the machine table, the vice has a longitudinal groove/slot on either side for
positioning toe-clamps.
The vice has interior through-holes for internal clamping.
Work procedure
The vice is supplied with 2 hardened and ground jaws. The fi xed jaw is attached to the body by
means of a groove and 4 hex screws. The moveable jaw is attached to the sliding base with 2 'T'
slots and corresponding serrations. The automatic movement of the base and jaw is 15mm. Maximum
clamping capacity is 70mm. This vice is specially suited for clamping with jaws machined to work-piece
confi guration.
Maintenance.
The sole maintenance this vice requires is cleaning and lubrication.
There is a threaded hole at the back of the vice (G12) with its corresponding cap. Cleaning should be
done by suction as opposed to blowing.
There are 2 greasing points on either side of the vice for the lubrication of the sliding parts.
