Marking and Clamping the Boards (see Fig.
Lay out boards and mark them sequentially with a, b, c and d and mark
the upper board edges (X).
Remove template 12 for exact alignment of the boards.
All workpieces are vertically clamped and machined for finger joining.
Align edge to be machined flush with the top of the horizontally clamped
backing board 27.

Clamp the boards b or d with the marked upper board edge on the right
stop screw 9. This ensures the correct offset of the finger joints by
10 mm.
Observe square angles to obtain a good quality and dimensional accu-
racy of the joint. This can be checked with a stop angle.
Cutting
Install and lower template 12. Lock with clamping levers 5 and 11. The
fingers of the template 12 must project beyond the workpiece edge.
To achieve a good result, observe the following points:
• Always keep good contact be-
tween router and template.
• Always apply guide bush to one
side of the template fingers only
and guide router to the inside (do
not follow contours):
For the boards a and c which are
clamped on the left, press the
router to the left against the tem-
plate finger.
For the boards b and d which are
clamped on the right, press the
router to the right against the tem-
plate finger.
• For larger cutting depths it is advisable to perform several machining
processes with less chip removal.
If the interlocking on one side is too narrow, offset stop screws 9 by the
same amounts to the inside or to the outside.
Note: To mill the second edges turn the boards over as shown. The
marked upper board edges will again rest on the stop screws 9. The
marking is no longer visible.
Make the other joints accordingly.
