Can I ride a bicycle or drive a car or motorcycle with the WalkOn?
It is not possible to make any specific recommendation. You must be
able to safely control any vehicle for which you require a driving licence
and insurance, or which is used in traffic. The following principles
apply:
The ability to operate a vehicle when wearing a WalkOn is determined
on a case-by-case basis. Criteria include the type of fitting, clinical
assessment and individual abilities.
All users are required to observe their country's national and state
driving laws when operating motor vehicles. For insurance purposes,
drivers should have their driving ability examined and approved by an
authorised test centre.
How should I care for and clean the WalkOn?
The orthosis should be wiped regularly using water or a mild cleaning
agent. The pad should be washed at least twice a week. We recom-
mend machine laundering at 40°C (104°F). Please do not use fabric
softener. To prolong the life time of the calf band, close the hook and
loop closure each time you remove your WalkOn.
Can I get extra pads for the WalkOn?
Replacement pads for all orthoses are of course available and can can
be ordered by your orthotist. The orthotist should adapt the pad to your
needs and make any necessary adjustments.
When should I contact my orthotist?
You should consult your orthotist regularly, at least every 6 months,
in order to have the orthosis checked for any damage. The pads and
closures should also be replaced regularly.
Please check the condition of your foot, lower leg and orthosis on
a daily basis. Immediately report any unusual changes of your skin
condition or the orthosis to your orthotist. The same applies if you
detect any sharp edges on the orthosis.
