DRILLING FOR HINGES
AA
Drilling holes in the door and indicating the pivot centre
Before beginning to drill, it is necessary to establish the parameters of screw spacing, the pivot
centre movement and recommended distance between the pivot and the edge. The parameters for
the most commonly used hinges are shown in the preceding table.
Fig. 16
Insert two pins (pos. 2) in one of the holes 3 - 6 (according to the chosen distance of the pivot from
the edge) using the spacing corresponding to the hinge chosen (Fig. 16 & 17). Position the CMT900
on the work piece, so that the central axis of the chosen hinge spacing on the template is aligned
with the central axis on the work piece and the stops are up against front edge of the work piece.
Use the CMT400-1 adaptor chuck with a drill bit for blind holes with Ø3mm for wood screws, Ø5mm
for euro screws or Ø8mm for fast plugs.
