RockShox (JUDY) forks can be tuned to your particular weight, riding style, and terrain. Our forks are set up for the
140-180 lb (65-80Kg),all-around rider who spends equal time riding every off-road terrain imaginable. Because
you're probably not that rider, you can benefit by making tuning adjustments to suit your specific needs. For
maximum tuning flexibility, purchase a RockShox Type II Tuning Kit (includes coil springs, spring stops & MCU' s ).
Ideally the fork performs best when occasionally bottoming out, but not too harshly nor too often. When
tuning your suspension, always make one change at a time and write it down. This takes patience but allows
you to understand how each change feels on the terrain you ride. Keeping a record lets you always know what
changes you have tried and suggests what changes you might try. Ask your shop and/or local riders what they
have found works well. These resources are typically your best bet, but don't hesitate to call us about your
specific tuning needs if necessary. A list of phone numbers, by country, are in the back of this manual.

Judy is designed to compress (sag) when you are sitting on the bike. This sag allows the front wheel to stay in
contact with the ground when braking and cornering over rough and uneven terrain. The nominal settings by
travel are 7-10mm sag for 80mm travel; 5-8 mm for 63mm travel. The top cap adjustment knob on each leg
adjusts the sag of the fork (the preload on the spring stack). Changing the preload alters the sag and firmness
of the initial fork movement. When the adjustment knob is turned full clockwise, the fork will sag the least and
be the firmest initially. Turning the adjustment knobs full counterclockwise makes the fork sag the most and
be the softest initially. Typically, heavier, more aggressive riders need more spring preload to hold the fork up
in the travel and allow more of the fork travel to be used during bump impact. Lighter, less aggressive riders
need less preload on the spring system to allow the fork to move easier and be more supple over smaller
bumps. For the ideal preload for you, turn the top cap adjustment knobs to your desired setting, keeping in
mind sag and initial fork movement.

Remember you want the fork to occasionally bottom out, but not too harshly nor too often. If you are
bottoming out too often or not using all the available travel, and if the preload and sag feel good (see above),
then the overall spring rate should be changed. By changing the coil spring stops, you can alter the overall
spring rate. To change the coil spring stop in each leg, follow this procedure:
NOTE:
THE COIL SPRING STOPS MUST BE THE SAME IN EACH LEG
1. Unscrew the top cap assembly using a 22mm wrench or socket.
2. Remove the spring stack assembly (top cap, coil spring, coil spring
stop, spacer, and MCU).(See Fig.2)
3. Remove the MCU spacer from the coil spring stop, coil spring, and top
cap using an unscrewing motion.
4. Now unsnap the coil spring stop from the spacer. By using shorter
