Checking the factory settings
Text in the illustration

: Vorbringer ≙ Extension assist; Friktionsbremse ≙ Friction brake; EBS-Einheit ≙ EBS unit
► Prior to the dynamic trial fitting, restore the factory settings (see Fig.
► If a suitable torque wrench is not available, first set the adjustment screw of the friction brake
so that high axle friction is felt and then slowly turn it back to minimal axle friction.
► CAUTION! For use as a locking knee joint, leave the friction brake set to minimal axle friction
so the patient can safely use the locking function of the prosthetic knee joint.
The following settings on the prosthetic knee joint are required for use as a free-running knee
joint.
Adjusting the EBS unit
INFORMATION
The EBS function must be explained to the patient in detail. Through intensive training (active
loading and unloading of the prosthesis side while standing between parallel bars), the patient
must become familiar with the functionality of the EBS and find the optimum setting by trial and
error.

: Erhöhen des Standphasenflexionswiderstands ≙ Increasing the stance phase flexion resist
ance; Standphasenflexion verringert ≙ Reduced stance phase flexion; Verringern des Stand
phasenflexionswiderstands ≙ Reducing the stance phase flexion resistance; Standphasenflexion
erhöht≙ Increased stance phase flexion
► For adjusting the EBS unit, note Fig.
► CAUTION! Explain the EBS function to the patient and familiarise the patient with the EBS
between parallel bars.
► With the adjustment wrench, adjust the EBS so that the prosthetic knee joint goes into stance
phase flexion at heel strike, not too fast and not too slow in accordance with the needs of the
patient.

: Erhöhen der Federvorspannung ≙ Increasing the spring tension; Schwungphasenflexion ver
ringert ≙ Reduced swing phase flexion; Schwungphasenextension verstärkt ≙ Stronger swing
phase extension; Verringern der Federvorspannung ≙ Reducing the spring tension; Schwung
phasenflexion erhöht ≙ Increased swing phase flexion; Schwungphasenextension schwächer ≙
Weaker swing phase extension
► For adjusting the extension assist, note Fig.
► CAUTION! The lower leg of the prosthesis must not swing through too far in the dorsal direc
tion at the beginning of the swing phase.
Adjust the extension assist so that the lower leg of the prosthesis swings through in the dorsal
direction according to the patient's requirements, but reaches full extension in a timely man
ner for the next heel strike.

: Erhöhen der Achsfriktion ≙ Increasing the axle friction; Schwungphasenflexion langsamer ≙
Slower swing phase flexion; Schwungphasenextension langsamer ≙ Slower swing phase exten
sion; Verringern der Achsfriktion ≙ Reducing the axle friction; Schwungphasenflexion schneller ≙
Faster swing phase flexion; Schwungphasenextension schneller ≙ Faster swing phase extension
