Possible Cause
Low salt level in pool water.
Cell requires cleaning.
Cell not working properly after cleaning.
DC power cord not properly connected to the
cell.
Flow/temp/salinity sensor not plugged in.
Water temperature too low.
All the above have been checked and
indicator light is still on.
Not enough salt added on start up.
Heavy rainfall.
Leak in pool.
Dirty fl ow/temp/salinity sensor contacts
or faulty fl ow sensor.
Presence of excess chloramines (combined
chlorine).
It has been six (6) months since present
cartridge was installed.
Combined algae and bacteria growth.
Improper water balance.
Incorrect pH causing metals to come out of
solution.
High total hardness.
Corrective Action
Test salinity. Add salt as described in
Section 4.6.
Refer to Maintenance Procedure for acid
wash cleaning. See Section 6.5, Step 2.
Contact a qualifi ed service representative.
Check connection. Check for dirt or
corrosion around DC cord contacts at cell.
Check Cell studs for same.

Add salt to pool, 3.0 gpl to 3.5 gpl.
See Section 4.6.
Repair pool.
Remove and clean fl ow/temp/salinity
sensor contacts. Check fl ow/temp/salinity
sensor cable for damage. See Section
6.6. Verify salinity with Myron "L" meter
calibrated for NaCl, titration test units, or
other salt meters. Please be aware that
salt test strips have a large variance in
readings (400 - 800 ppm).
Manually shock the pool following the
directions in Section 5.4.2 Shocking.
Brush pool, manually shock, adjust pH,
