each case with the button DOWN or UP (dis-
play 0 – 255) so that the desired colour with
corresponding brightness will result.
Hint: When adjusting the brightness of the red, green or
blue LEDs, not only their brightness changes but also
the shade of colour in case the colours are mixed. There-
fore, first adjust the colour which is to dominate to the
desired brightness and then add the other two colours. If
the intended colour mixture is white, first adjust the
brightness of the green colour because this appears to
be the brightest colour to the human eye. Then add red
to result in yellow and finally add blue to result in white.

6.1.3 Music control

In case of music control the LEDs shortly light up at
maximum brightness by the sound picked up via
the microphone (6).
1) Press the button ESC / MENU up to three times
so that the display shows the operating mode (in
fig. 2 on the very left).
2) Press the button UP or DOWN so many times
until the display shows
3) Press the button ENTER. The display switches
to

or DOWN.
6.2 Synchronous control
of several spotlights (slave mode)
Several PARL-183RGB units can be intercon-
nected. Then the master unit can control all slave
units in sync.
1) Connect the spotlights via the jacks DMX OUT
(8) and DMX IN (7) with each other in a chain.
For this purpose see chapter 6.3.1 "DMX con-
nection", however, without considering step 1.
2) The first spotlight of the chain (its jack DMX IN is
not connected) serves as a master unit and con-
trols the slave units. Adjust the slave units to the
slave mode:
a) Press the button ESC / MENU up to three
times so that the display shows the operating
mode (in fig. 2 on the very left).
b) Press the button UP or DOWN so many times
until the display shows
c) Press the button ENTER. The display now
switches to

6.3 Operation with a DMX controller

For operation via a DMX controller (e. g. DMX-1440
or DMX-510USB from "img Stage Line") the spot-
light is equipped with six DMX control channels.
DMX is short for Digital Multiplex and means digital

control of several DMX units via a common control
line. The functions of the channels and the DMX
values are indicated in chapter 6.3.3.

6.3.1 DMX connection

For the DMX connection, the unit is provided with
3-pole XLR jacks of the following pin configuration:
pin 1 = ground, 2 = DMX-, 3 = DMX+
For connection, special cables for high data flow
should be used. Standard microphone cables with
screening and a minimum cross section of 2 ×
0.22 mm
2
and with a capacity as low as possible
can only be recommended for a total cable length
of up to 100 m. For cable lengths exceeding 150 m
it is recommended to insert a DMX level matching
amplifier (e. g. SR-103DMX from "img Stage Line").
1) Connect the jack DMX IN (7) to the DMX output
of the light controller.
2) Connect the jack DMX OUT (8) to the DMX input
of the following spotlight or the following light
effect unit; connect its output again to the input
of the following DMX unit, etc. until all DMX-con-
trolled units have been connected in a chain.
3) To exclude interferences in signal transmission,
for long cables or for a great number of units
connected in series, terminate the DMX output
of the last DMX unit of the chain with a 120 Ω
resistor (> 0.3 W) : Connect a corresponding ter-
minating plug (e. g. DLT-123 from "img Stage
Line") to the DMX output jack.

6.3.2 Adjusting the DMX start address

To be able to operate the spotlight with a light con-
troller, adjust the DMX start address for the first
DMX channel. If e. g. address 5 on the DMX con-
troller is provided for the dimmer function, adjust
the start address 5 on the spotlight. The other DMX
channels of the spotlight are then automatically
assigned to the following addresses (in this exam-
ple 6 to 10). The address 11 could be used in this
example as the next possible start address for the
following DMX-controlled unit.
1) Press the button ESC/MENU up to three times
so that the operating mode is displayed (in fig. 2
on the very left).
2) Press the button UP or DOWN so many times
until the display shows
3) Press the button ENTER. The display now
shows
and a number between 1 and 512.
4) Adjust the start address with the button UP or
DOWN.
