8. Carefully handle radio.
Should a radio be dropped or struck against hard
materials inadvertently, it may be deformed,
cracked, or damaged.
9. Do not wipe plastic parts with solvent.
Solvents such as gasoline, thinner benzine,
carbon tetrachloride, and alcohol may damage
and crack plastic parts. Do not wipe them with
such solvents.
Wipe plastic parts with a soft cloth lightly
dampened with soapy water and dry thoroughly.

1. This manual contains important safety and
operating instructions for battery charger Model
UC18YRSL and UC18YRL.
2. Before using battery charger, read all instructions
and cautionary markings on (1) battery charger,
(2) battery, and (3) product using battery.
3. Plug of battery charger must match the outlet.
Never modify the plug in any way.
Unmodifi ed plugs and matching outlets will
reduce risk of electric shock.
4. Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for
carrying, pulling or unplugging the battery charger.
Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or
moving parts.
Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of
electric shock.
5. To reduce risk of injury, charge HITACHI
rechargeable battery type, BSL1830 and
EBM1830. Other type of batteries may burst
causing personal injury and damage.
6. When charging slide battery BSL1830, always
use charger UC18YRSL. When charging battery
EBM1830, always use charger UC18YRL.

8. Use of an attachment not recommended or sold
by the battery charger manufacturer may result in
a risk of fi re, electric shock, or injury to persons.
9. To reduce risk of damage to electric plug and
cord, pull by plug when disconnecting battery
charger.
10. Make sure cord is located so that it will not be
stepped on, tripped over, or otherwise subjected
to damage or stress.
11. Do not operate battery charger with damaged
cord or plug-replace them immediately.
12. Do not operate battery charger if it has received a
sharp blow, been dropped, or otherwise damaged
in any way; take it to a qualifi ed serviceman.
13. Do not disassemble battery charger; take it to a
qualifi ed serviceman when service or repair is
required. Incorrect reassembly may result in a risk
of electric shock or fi re.
14. To reduce risk of electric shock, unplug
charger from receptacle before attempting any
maintenance or cleaning. Removing the battery
will not reduce this risk.
