Side case (Fig. 40)
Always keep the side case and drive area clean of
saw dust and debris. Periodically apply oil or grease
to this area to protect from corrosion as some trees
contain high levels of acid.
NOTE
Pull up the front hand guard towards you and
release the brake to remove or install the side case.
Fuel fi lter (Fig. 41)
Remove the fuel fi lter (44) from the fuel tank and
thoroughly wash it in solvent. After that, push the
fi lter into the tank completely.
NOTE
If the fuel fi lter (44) is hard due to dust and dirt,
replace it.
Chain oil fi lter (Fig. 41)
Remove the oil fi lter (45) and thoroughly wash it in
solvent.
After that, push the fi lter into the tank completely.

Cleaning the cylinder fi ns (Fig. 42)
When wood chips are caught between cylinder fi ns
(46), the engine may overheat, resulting in lower
output. To avoid this, always keep cylinder fi ns and
fan case clean.
Every 100 operating hours, or once a year (more
often if conditions require), clean fi ns and external
surfaces of engine of dust, dirt and oil deposits
which can contribute to improper cooling.

Icing protection system (Fig. 43-45)
This system is to protect carburetor from icing when
the unit is operated in winter time.
1. When you need icing system work, remove air
fi lter cover (41). Pull out the shutter (47) from
inside the air fi lter cover and reinstall it in winter
time position by turning half-way. (Fig. 44) This
will allow heated air to fl ow from cylinder side to
carburetor cabin through the opening (48).
NOTE
When winter time has been over and carburetor
will not suff er from icing, make sure that the
shutter is reinstalled in ordinary position (Fig. 43).

NOTE
When the unit is used in very cold weather, it is
advisable to cover the slits of the halfway down
of recoil starter side with glue tape (49) so that
snow dust will not get into fancase. (Fig. 45)
