Intended Use
Bench-mounted mini grinder, fitted with a grinding and polishing wheel. Featuring a built-in rotary
hobby tool with a flexible shaft for multiple uses in light duty hobby tasks.
Unpacking Your Tool
• Carefully unpack and inspect your new tool. Familiarise yourself with all its features and
functions.
• Ensure that all parts of the tool are present and in good condition. If any parts are missing or
damaged, have such parts replaced before attempting to use this tool.
Before Use
WARNING: Ensure the tool is disconnected from the power supply before attaching or changing
any accessories, or making any adjustments.
Assembling the mini bench grinder
Note: This machine should always be securely mounted to a strong, stable workbench.
Attaching the eye shields
• The grinder should never be used without the supplied Eye Shields (15). Attempting to use the
grinder without the Eye Shields, or with the Eye Shields incorrectly fitted, is highly dangerous
and could result in severe injury to yourself or others around you.
• Attach one Eye Shield to the Eye Shield Bracket (5), using the Eye Shield Fasteners (19) and the
Eye Shield Nuts (20), as shown in (Image I), then repeat for the other side.
120W Multi Grinder 75mm
Attaching the tool rests
• The grinder should never be used without the supplied Tool Rests (18). Attempting to use the
grinder without the Tool Rests, or with the Tool Rests incorrectly fitted, is highly dangerous and
could result in severe injury to yourself or others around you.
1. Take the Tool Rest Fasteners (25), and place the Flat Washer (22) and the Crush Washer (21) over
the Collet Holder (14) (Image II).
2. Position the Tool Rest against the Tool Rest Bracket (3), with the angled edge furthest away from
the wheel.
3. Fasten using the Tool Rest Fasteners (Image III).
4. Repeat for the other side.
Note: The Tool Rests can be adjusted to best suit the work to be performed. Always ensure that the
Tool Rests are securely tightened before use.
Note: As the Grinding Wheel (4) wears, it will be necessary to adjust the Tool Rests. The gap between
the Grinding Wheel and the Tool Rest should be less than 3mm at all times.
Fitting the flexible rotary tool
1. Slot the squared drive shaft of the Male Connector (1) into the centre of the Female Connector
(10) (Image IV).
Note: The rotary tools connector is left-hand threaded, so in order to tighten, the Male Connector
must be turned anti-clockwise on to the Female Connector.
2. Tighten the Male Connector on to the left-hand threaded Female Connector.
3. At the Collet Holder (14), secure the tool from turning by putting the Hex Key (17) through the
small securing hole below the Collet Holder (Image V).
4. Insert the desired Collet (24) into the Collet Holder (Image VI) and loosely tighten the Collar (23)
on to the end.
5. Insert the desired hobby tool accessory into the Collet.
6. Fasten down the Collar using the Spanner (16).
7. Remove the Hex Key from the securing hole.
Pre-operational checks
• Always check that all parts or attachments are secure, and that rotating parts will not contact
guards or machine case.
• Ensure that any ventilation holes are not obscured in any way. Hot air may be emitted from the
machine when in use.
Operation
WARNING: Always wear suitable personal protective equipment, including eye, hearing and
respiratory protection, when operating this machine.
WARNING: Always unplug the grinder from the mains supply before attempting to fit or replace
any attachment. Never fit any attachment with a maximum speed lower than the no load speed
of the machine.
WARNING: Be aware that the cast metal motor housing may get hot during use.
Switching on and off
Note: Do not switch the machine on or off when under load. Always allow the motor to reach its full
speed before applying a load, and to stop completely before leaving unattended.
• To switch the machine ON, press the 'I' on the ON/OFF Switch (7)
• To switch the machine OFF, press the 'O' on the ON/OFF Switch
Adjusting tool speed
WARNING: ALWAYS set the speed according to the requirements of the accessory fitted and the
material of the workpiece.
• Use the Speed Control Dial (8) to control the rotation speed.
Note: The higher the number on the dial the faster the spindle rotates.
Grinding
• DO NOT push the workpiece into the grinding wheel as you grind causing the grinding wheel to
slow. Instead allow the grinding wheel to maintain full speed and apply very minimal pressure.
• DO NOT use grinding wheels that are damaged or have worn down more than 25% from their
original size.
• Always hold work against the Tool Rest (18) and grip with both hands. Position yourself so you
have a comfortable grip on the workpiece without being excessively close to the grinder. It
is critical your clothes have no loose strands of material especially on your arms and close to
your hands that could be caught by the grinding wheel forcing your hand into the grinding
mechanism.
• DO NOT attempt to work on material that is too small to grip securely.
• Always refer to wheel manufacturer's literature before use. Check that the wheel is suitable for
the material that you intend to work.
• Metal grinding may produce sparks. Ensure that you are properly protected, and that any
flammable materials are removed from the work area.
