IQ EV Charger User Manual
OPERATION
The IQ EV Charger is a compact wall or pedestal-mounted
EVSE that provides plug-in hybrid or battery electric vehicle
(together Plug-In Electric Vehicles, or "PEV") users with a safe
and manageable link between the power grid and the PEV. Both
hardwired and plug-in IQ EV Charger versions are available.
To use the IQ EV Charger, unwrap the charging cable and plug the
SAE J1772 or the NACS connector into the vehicle's charge port.
Typically, the vehicle will immediately request a charge using a
special communication line in the cable. Within a few seconds, the
green charging light on the face of the IQ EV Charger will turn
on, and the charging cycle will begin. After an average driving day,
the vehicle's battery pack will require several hours to recharge
completely. Charging overnight is the most convenient way to
maintain healthy batteries and ensure the vehicle's full range will
be available for the next day.
When the vehicle has stopped charging, the green charging light
on the IQ EV Charger will turn off. To remove the connector head
once a charge cycle has completed (or to interrupt a charge in
progress), for J1772 connectors, press and hold down the latch
release lever on the connector handle, then unplug the connector
from the vehicle charge port. For the NACS connector, press the
tactile button on the handle and unplug the connector from the
vehicle charge port.
