Front handle (II) installation and adjustment
If the handle has not been fi tted, put it through the power cord cover, adjust its position and then lock it in place by tightening
the front handle lock. The position of the handle should be selected experimentally, adjusting it to the physical conditions of the
operator and the area where the cultivator will be used. The position of the handle should allow you to work with your elbows bent
and your back straight. It should also ensure freedom of movement in the working plane. Working without a correctly installed
front handle is prohibited.
Length adjustment
The tool length can be set by pulling back the length adjustment lock lever (III), then adjusting the tool length and tightening the
lock lever. Infi nite adjustment of the tool length between the movement stops is possible.
Connection to power supply (IV)
Slide the battery into the latch so that its latch is outside the socket. Slide the battery into the socket until the latch engages. Make
sure that the battery will not slide out on its own during operation. Disconnect the battery by pressing and holding the latch and
then pulling the battery out of the socket. Only the following 18V Li-Ion YATO batteries can be used to power the tool: YT-82842,
YT-82843, YT-82844 and YT-82845, which can only be charged with YATO YT-82848 or YT-82849 chargers. It is forbidden to
use other batteries with a diff erent rated voltage and not matching the tool battery socket. It is forbidden to modify the socket or
battery to make them match.
Preparing the workplace
The cultivator is intended only for soil cultivation. The soil cannot be too hard. If the soil is too hard or dry, moisturise it before
starting work and wait for the water to soak into the soil.
Working on a hard surface such as concrete or wood is prohibited.
Before starting work, remove all visible stones, roots, wires and other items which may damage the cultivator blades. Ensure that
there are no electrical cables in the work area. Be aware that electrical cables can be hidden underground.
The cultivator only works correctly when it is driven forward. Avoid reversing the tool.
The work area should be prepared in such a way that it is possible to move in rows (V). Rows should be kept equal in width, slightly
overlapping so as not to leave any space. Take special care when changing the direction.
Starting the tool
Set the cultivator in the place where the work is to commence. The cultivator can only be started when in vertical position.
If the cultivator is equipped with supporting wheels, rest it on the wheels and lift the blades so that they do not come into contact
with the ground. If the cultivator does not have supporting wheels, set the blades on the ground. Grasp both handles fi rmly (VI).
The switch is equipped with a safety device, protecting against starting the tool accidentally. To start the tool, press and hold the
lock button with your thumb, then press and hold the switch (VII). The tool will start and the blades will begin spinning. You do
not need to hold down the lock button any longer, but hold down the switch at all times. The switch cannot be locked in the "on"
position.
The tool stops when the pressure on the switch is released.
The blades may still rotate for some time after releasing the pressure on the switch.
When work is fi nished, turn off the tool, wait for the blades to stop completely, disconnect it by removing the battery from the socket
and proceed with maintenance.
Cultivator operation
When working, you have to be prepared for unexpected situations. The blades may hit a stone, root or other obstacle which was
not visible before. In this case, the tool must be switched off immediately, disconnected from the power supply by removing the
battery from the socket. In case of any damage, do not proceed with work.
Do not exert excessive pressure on the cultivator. Blades should not sink in more than 3 to 4 centimetres.
Take regular breaks during work to avoid fatigue and overwork. This will allow better product control and reduce the risk of acci-
dents.
Caution! Always push the cultivator while working; never pull it towards you. Pulling the tool causes the operator to move
backwards, which means no control over the area behind the operator's back. Push the cultivator slowly; always walk, never run.
This will give you better control of the tool and reduce the response time to unexpected events.
During operation, move along the rows (V). Rows should be kept equal in width, slightly overlapping so as not to leave any space.
Take special care when changing the direction.
Caution! If a foreign object hits the tool during operation, Switch off the tool immediately, wait for the blades to stop and then
unplug the tool from the power supply. Then check the cultivator for damage. If the damage is detected, it is forbidden to continue
working before removing the damage. Excessive vibration during operation can be caused by damage to the tool. In that case,
stop working, disconnect the battery, and check the product.
