WARNING: Experienceindicatesthatalcohol
blendedfuels(calledgasohoior using ethanol
or methanol)can attractmoisturewhich leads
to separationand fon_tion of adds during
storage. Acidicgas can damage the fuel
system of an enginewhile in storage. To avoid
engine problems,the fuel systemshould be
emptied beforestorageof 30 days or longer.
Drain the fuel tank, startthe engine and let it
rununtilfuel linesand carburetor are empty.

TO START
ENGINE
• To start a cold engine, push primer five
(5) times before trying to start. Use a
jirm
push. This step is not usually
T_ecessarywhen starting an engine
which has already run for a few minutes.
• Hold operator presence c_:=trolbar
down to the handle.
• Turn electric start key clockwise to crank
engine.

IMPORTANT:
Do not crank engine more
than five continuous_econds between
each time you try to start. Wait 5 to 10
seconds between each attempt.
• To start engine using the auxiliary
starter handle, follow the steps above.
Exchange the use of the start key for

• To stop engine, release operator
presence control bar.
NOTE: In cooler weather it may be
necessary to repeat priming steps. In
warmer weather over priming may cause
flooding and engine will not start. If you do
flood engine wait a few minutes before
attempting to start and do not repeat
priming steps.
MOWING TIPS
• Under certaincond_ons, suchas very tall
grass,itmay be necessaryto raisethe
heightof cutto reduce pushingelfortand to
keep from overloading theengine and
leaving dumps ofgrass clippings.

heavy cutUng, reduce t he
width ofcutbyoverlapping previously
cut
path and mow slowly.
• When usinga rear dischargelawnmower in
moist,heavy grass,clumpsofcut grass
may notenterthe grass catcher. Reduce
groundspeed (pushingspeed)and/or run
the lawnmoweroverthe area a second
time.

a rear dischargemower, mow in a dock-
wise direction with a small overlapto collect
the dippingson the next pass.
• Pores in doth grass catchers can become
filledwithdirtand dustwith use and
catchers wglcollectless grass. To prevent
this, regularlyhose catcher offwithwater
and let drybefore using.
• Keep top ofengine aroundstarterclear and
clean of grassclippingsand chaff. Thiswill
help engineair flow and extendenginelife.
