ENGINE
FUEL SYSTEM
IMPORTANT: Itis important to preventgum
deposits from forming in essentialfuel system
partssuch as carburetor, f uelfilter,fuel hose,
or tank duringstorage.Also,experience
indicatesthat alcoholblendedfuels(called
gasoholor usingethanolor methanol)can
attractmoisturewhich leadsto separationand
formation of acidsduringstorage.Acidicgas
can damage the fuel system of an engine
while in storage.
• Drain the fueltank.
• Start the engineand let It run untilthe fuel
lines and carburetorare empty.
• Never useengine or carburetorcleaner
productsin thefuel tank or permanent
darnage mayoccuP.
• Use freshfuel next season.
NOTE: Fuel stabilizeris an acceptable
alternativein minimizing the formationoffuel
gum depositsduringstorage. Add stabilizerto
gasolinein fuel tank or storage container.
Always followthe mix ratiofoundon stabilizer
""con_ner.
Run _ngine at least 10 minutes
after adding stabilizer to allowthe stabilizerto
reach the carburetor. Do notdrain-thegas
tank and carburetor if usingfuel stabilizer.
ENGINE OIL
Drainoil (withenginewarm) and replacewith
dean engineoil. (See "ENGINE" in the
CustomerResponsbli_es sectionof this
manual).
CYUNDER
• Remove sparkplug.
• Pour one ounce (29 ml) of oilthroughspark
plughole intocylinder.
• Pullstarterhandleslowlya few times to
distribute oil.
• Replacewith new sparkplug.
BATTERY
Disconnect the battery from the engine
connector and charge battery 48 hours.
OTHER
• Do notstoregasolinefromone seasonto
another.
• Replaceyour gasolinecan ifyourcan starts
to rust. Rustand/ordirtin your gasolinewill
cause problems.
• If possible,store your unitindoorsand cover
It to giveprotection from dustand dirt.
• Cover yourunitwith a suitableprotective
coverthat doesnot retainmoisture. Do not
use plastic. Plasticcannotbreathewhich
allowscondensation to form and will cause
your unitto rust.
IMPORTANT: Never cover mowerwhile
engine and exhaust areasare stillwarm.
CAUTION:
Never store the lawn mower
with gasoline in the tank inside a building
where fumes may reach an open flame or
spark. Allow the engine to cool before
storing in any enclosure.
