• Never modify or extend the tool securing lanyard.
• Do not use the tool securing lanyard for tools with
a weight greater to that indicated on the tool
securing lanyard. Your tool securing system is
only as strong as the weakest connection.
• Use only in conjunction with a different Metabo
tool securing device.
• Use the tool safety strap only with suitable
machines / fall protection accessories. A list of
these machines / fall protection accessories can
be found on http://www.metabo.com under the
"occupational safety" section.
-Only use the securing means for the respective
machines / fall protection accessories specified
in this list.
• Attach the tool securing lanyard to tools only as
described in these operating instructions.
• Never attach the tool securing lanyard to
movable parts such as ladders or tool boxes.
Never attach the tool securing lanyard to
attachment parts such as batteries, side handles,
covers, belt hooks or other accessories.
• Only use the tool securing lanyard for tools with
machines that fulfil the technical requirements of
the tool securing system. Never modify tools to
create attachment points. Ensure that the
switches and locks on the tool are not hindered
by tool securing lanyard.
• Do not suspend more than one tool at a time from
the tool securing lanyard.
• The lanyard has to be fixed to the tool in such a
way that the function of the switch is not affected.
• Do not use the tool securing lanyard with tools
that do not have a suitable attachment point.
• Never attach any tools that weigh more than 2.25
kg to yourself. Falling tools can make you loose
your balance.
• Never use the tool securing lanyard near moving
parts or tools. The tool securing lanyard could
wind up and thus pose a great danger.
• Do not use the tool securing lanyard to pull or
carry parts.
• Secure the work area.
• Make sure that there is sufficient space in the
area where the tool might hit the floor. No persons
must be endangered in that area.
• Do not use the tool securing lanyard at
temperatures below -10°C/ 14°F or over 71°C/
160°F.
• Do not use the tool securing lanyard near caustic
liquids.
• Protect the tool security lanyard from flying
sparks and chips.
• Protect the tool securing lanyard from sharp
edges, blades, chips, etc. Do not step on the tool
or the tool securing lanyard.
• Replace the rope after a fall and check the tool for
damage. After each fall, have the machine

checked for damage by a trained specialist and
repaired if necessary.
• Do not try to catch the falling machine. This might
result in injuries.
• Regularly check the tool securing lanyard for
damage. Do not modify or repair the tool securing
lanyard.
• Keep out of the reach of children.
INSTRUCTIONS
Attach one of the ends of the tool securing lanyards
on a tool. You can either use the loop or the
carabiner of the securing lanyard for this purpose.
1. Using the loop:
1a. Pass the loop through an fastening eyelet on the
tool or around a suitable place such as the handle.
1b. Pass the carabiner of the securing lanyard
through the loop and tighten the buckle to ensure a
secure connection.
2. Using the carabiner:
2a. Open the carabiner and hook it into a fastening
eyelet on the tool.
2b. Close the carabiner.
3. Attach the other end of the tool securing lanyard
to an attachment point on your body or to another
suitable attachment point. You can either use the
loop or the carabiner of the securing lanyard for this
purpose.
Attach the retaining strap to the tool. See examples
in figure A, B.
Twist the locking sleeve (1.) and press against the
spine (2.) to hook in the carabiner at the attachment
point, see figure C.
INSPECTION
BELT/ROPE: Check for cuts, abrasion, fraying,
burn marks, dirt, and discolouration.
SEAMS: Check for wear, fraying and cuts.
METAL PARTS: Check for deformation, cracks,
sharp edges, rust and ensure proper functioning.
MARKINGS: Check for legibility and ensure correct
attachment.
BASIC FABRIC: Check for wear, cuts, abrasion and
damage to structural seams.
CARE
After use, remove dirt, rust and foreign matter from
the equipment and store it in a clean, dry place free
from combustion gases or corrosive substances.
Taking good care of your equipment ensures its
proper functioning and extends its service life.
CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
• Wipe the dirt off the surface with a cloth
moistened with water.
• Immerse the cloth in a mild soapy solution or a
mild detergent. Create a thick lather and clean
the product.
• Wipe it with a clean cloth and hang it up to dry in
a place that is not too warm without exposing it to
water vapour and sun.
