Prepare your
unitfor storageat the end
of the seasonor if it will not be usedfor
30 days or more.
WARNING:
• Allow the engine to coot,and secure
the unitbeforestoring or transporting.
• Store chainsaw and fuel in a well
ventilated area where fuel vapors
cannot reach sparks or open flames
from water heaters, electric motors or
switches, furnaces, etc.
• Store chainsaw with all guards in
place and position chain saw so that
any sharp object cannot accidentally
cause injury.
• Storechainsaw well out ofthe reach
of children.
EXTERNAL SURFACES
Ifyourchainsaw is to be stored for a
periodof time, clean itthoroughlybe-
fore storage.Store in a clean dry area.
• Lightlyoilexternalmetal surfaces and
guide bar.
• Oil the chain and wrap it in heavy pa-
per or cloth.
FUEL SYSTEM
Under FuelingEngine in the Operating
Section ofthis manual, see message
labeled IMPORTANT regardingthe use
ofgasohol in yourchain saw.
Fuelstabilizerisan acceptablealtema-
tire in minimizing the formationof fuel
gum depositsduringstorage.Add stabi-
lizer to the gasolinein the fuel tank or
fuel storagecontainer. Followthe mix
instructions found on stabilizercontain-
ers. Run engineat least 5 minutes after
adding stabilizer.
CRAFTSMAN 40:1, 2-cycle engine oil
(air cooled) is especially blended with
fuel stabilizer. If you do not use this
Sears oil, you can add a fuel stabilizer
to your fuel tank.
ENGINE
• Remove spark plugand pour 1 tea-
spoonof 40:1, 2-cycle engine oil (air
cooled) through the spark plug open-
ing.Slowly pull the starter rope 8 to
10 times to distribute oil.
• Replace spark plug with new one of
recommended type and heat range.
* Cleanair filler.
• Check entireunitfor loose screws,
nuts, and bo_ts.Replace any dam-
aged, broken,or wornparts.
. At the beginningof the nextseason,
useonly fresh fuel havingthe proper
gasolineto oll ratio.
OTHER
• Do not store gasolinefrom one sea-
sonto another.
• Replace your gasoline can if it starts
