Quick Start Guide
This document
This document contains the safety information relevant
for the appliance, along with a quick start guide.
Prior to using the appliance for the first time,
be sure to read this entire document and keep
I
it ready to hand.
This quick start guide does not replace the separate
operating instructions, which describe the appliance in
detail. The operating instructions also contain further
information on the operation, maintenance and repair
of the appliance. Read the operating instructions
before you operate the machine for the first time.
You can download the operating instructions from our
website at www.nifisk-alto.com.
For further queries, please contact the Nilfisk service
representative responsible for your country.
Important safety instructions
− D o not leave the machine when it is plugged in.
Unplug the unit from the outlet when not in use and
before servicing.
− W ear hearing protection if desired. Measured sound
level is about 79dB(A).
− T o avoid electric shock, do not expose to rain or
snow. Store and use indoors.
− D o not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is
necessary when used near children.
− U se only as described in this manual and the
operating instructions. Use only the manufacturer's
recommended attachments.
− D o not use with a damaged cord or plug. If the
appliance is not working as it should, has been
dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into
water, return it to a service center.
− D o not pull by the cord, use the cord as a handle,
damage the cord, or allow the cord or the machine
near heated surfaces.
− U se a defoamer anytime foam is present to avoid
damage to the vacuum motor(s).
− D o not handle the plug, the cord, or the machine
with wet hands.
− D o not put any objects into openings. Do not use
with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint,
hair, and anything that may reduce air flow.
− K eep loose clothing, hair, fingers, and all parts of
your body away from the openings and moving
parts.
− U se extra care when cleaning on stairs.
− L iquid ejected at the spray nozzle could be
dangerous as a result of its temperature, pressure,
or chemical content.
Purpose and intended use
This machine is designed for professional use. This
machine is only suitable for commercial use, for
example, in hotels, schools, hospitals, factories, shops,
and offices other than normal residential housekeeping
purposes.
Any other use is considered to be improper use. The
Manufacturer accepts no liability for any damage
resulting from improper use. The risk for such use
is borne solely by the user. Proper use also includes
proper operation and servicing and repairs as specified
by the manufacturer. See Operating Instructions.
General
The use of this machine is subject to all applicable
local regulations. Observe all recognized regulations for
safety and proper use.
Transport and storage
− F or safe transport, fix the machine with belts to
prevent it from sliding and/or tilting.
− B efore transporting at or below freezing
temperatures, add diluted anti-freeze to the solution
holding tank and pump it through the machine.
− S tore the machine in a dry and safe location that is
protected from frost.
− D amage caused by freezing is not covered by the
warranty.
Before use
Before each use, check the machine and power cords
for damage or defects, make sure the filters are clean,
be sure all tools are complete and operating, and all
hoses are in good working condition.
Water connection
1. Always make sure there is water in the solution
holding tank. Even brief shortages of water can
result in severe damage to the pump seals.
2. Always use the solution pressure hose that came
with the machine.
3. Use only clean water in the solution holding tank.
4. Always use a filter to remove debris (sand, etc.)
from poor quality water before use in the machine.
5. Never put water hotter than 54°C in the tank.
Mains power connection
Observe the following precautions before connecting
the machine to electrical power:
− A lways connect the machine ONLY to a power
source that has an earth ground connection.
− A ccording to IEC 60364-1 it is strongly
recommended that the electric supply to this
machine should include a residual current device -
Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI).
Extension power cords
Inadequate extension power cords can be dangerous.
Cords on spools should always be completely unwound
to prevent the power cord from over-heating.
Extensions cords should be water-tight, and be at least
4 mm
across. Connections should be kept dry.
