1. Use
The Pfannenberg air/water heat
exchanger is intended to dissipate
heat loss from switch cabinets.
Thermally sensitive components are
thus protected against damage.
• These devices are designed to dissipate
heat from sealed switch cabinets and
housings.
• The temperature of the cooling liquid
supplied to the air/water heat exchanger
must be at least 10 K colder than the
heat
exchanger
temperature in order to ensure the
cooling function.
2.
General information
• All devices are checked for leaks at
the works.
• We recommend installing a door contact
switch to turn the device off when the
switch cabinet door is opened.

5. Assembly
• Illustrations and detailed
description
(Technical sheet)
(Sectional and drilling template)
• Insert cutouts in the switch cabinet
depending on device type and
ambient operating conditions.
Please use the „Sectional and
drilling template" supplied with the
device for this purpose.
Note: Ensure no swarf gets into the
switch cabinet.
• Install seals
Please use the sealant material
supplied.
• Secure the device in place
1.
Please use the fixtures and
fittings supplied for this.

Electrical connections
• Power connection (external) and
wiring diagram (internal) (Technical
sheet)
(Wiring diagram on device)
Power connection is to the connection
terminal strip (X1) of the device.
Note: The fan starts as soon as it is
connected to the power supply.
• Mains
Connection voltage and frequency must
correspond to the rated values given
on the type plate.
Use the fusing specified on the type
plate for power protection.
• Temperature monitor (alarm)
Connection voltage max. 250V DC
Wiring and repairs may only be carried
out by authorised personnel.
7. Cooling water connection
• Use flexible pressure-resistant (>10
bar) hosing for the cooling water
connection and secure properly with
clamps.
• Observe flow direction (notices on the
device)
• Check for leaks
• Protect the water circuit against
contamination and excessive
pressure (please refer to the „Water
Quality Notes" section. The
inlet
air
maximum permissible operating
pressure is 10 ba
8. Condensation water
• To drain off condensation water
mount a hose on the end of the pipe
projecting from the device.
• Secure this hose in place with
clamps.
• To ensure reliable drainage of
condensation water, please note the
following:
• The drain hosing may not be
kinked
• Hosing cross-section must not be
constricted in any way.
• The drainage hose must slope in
the right direction.
• To avoid excessive condensation
water amounts, please note the
following:
• Adjust the cooling water
temperature to the cooling
performance required
• Only use the device on sealed
switch cabinets and housings
• Set the desired temperature only
as low as is really necessary
(avoid it dropping below the
dewpoint)
9. Cooling and Adjusting
(if available)
• The fan runs permanently.
• The solenoid valve controls cooling
water flow according to the internal
temperature setting in the switch
cabinet.
• The desired internal temperature of
the switch cabinet is set using the
thermostat.
Works setting
35°C / 95°F
Adjustment range
46.4°F - max. 50°C / 122°F
• Switch cabinet internal temperature
> the desired value set using the
thermostat
Solenoid valve
open
Coolant
flows
• Switch cabinet internal temperature
< the desired value set using the
thermostat
Solenoid valve
shut
Coolant
does not flow
10.
Temperature monitoring
(not for roof mounted units PWD)
• If the internal temperature of the
switch cabinet deviates more than
10K from the desired value set
(works setting 35°C / 95°F) using the
thermostat then the zero potential
two-way switch is triggered.
• This switch is wired to the terminal
strip X1.

11. Maintenance
• Pfannenberg air/water heat
exchangers are maintenance-free.
• Use of a filter is essential if the
cooling water is contaminated.
Please refer to the „Water Quality
Notes" section.
• Check the condensation water
drainage equipment at regular
intervals.
12.
Safety Notes
• Condensation water drainage out of
the switch cabinet must be ensured
when the device is installed.
• To prevent frost damage the temperature
in the water circuit must not fall below
the minimum permissible water
temperature of +1°C anywhere in the
system.
• If the device
is
transported
at temperatures below
freezing the water circuit must be
completely emptied using compressed
air.
