Operation and maintenance
Operating conditions
The CRS insulation bushings can be used up to an altitude
of 1000 m. For installation at higher altitudes please
contact COMEM. Ambient temperature of air:
• MAX temp according IEC 60137
• MIN temp -20°C for CRS 24-36kV 250/630A; -40°C for
other CRS (on demand until -60°C, not for CRS 24-36kV
250/630A).
Transformer oil temperature:
• for normal load: max 100°C;
• daily average: 90°C.
Temporary over-voltages are allowed in accordance to the
standard IEC 60076-7.
Adaptor
To meet the different customers demands concerning the
connection typologies, the lower and upper part of the bolt
are realized with two adaptors (see Fig.4/A and 4/B).
The adaptors are screwed on the main bolt and, to avoid
their unscrewing (during transportation or operation) they
are fixed with a grain and Loctite 270 (e.g.Fig. 4/C). This
type of connection guarantee robust and safety fixing dur-
ing the operation. Do not unscrew the adaptor; the risk is
to damage irreparably the thread therefore this operation
is not allowed.

Silicon shield re-conditioning
In case the silicon sheds show little damage along the
bushing life due to external agents (e.g. small holes), it
is possible to re-condition them by following the below
actions:
1. Clean the interested surfaces with water or soap
2. Insert in the hole the silicon material (the mix has to be
prepared in COMEM and the endurance is about 20
days storage in a refrigerator at 4÷6°C)
3. Heat the interested surface with a dryer (temperature in
the range 100÷130 °C) for 3 minutes.
4. Verify the consistence of the silicon (touching with the
fingers, it has to became hard).
5. To improve the esthetical aspect pass the surface with
thin sand paper.
If after the point 4 the polymerization is not completed, start again
from the point 3.
Packaging
All CRS insulation bushings are shipped inside a cardboard
box positioned on a pallet to facilitate transport and storage.
